Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Hi Brad,
The domain looks like it's in Afternic's holding account now. Let us know how the rest of the transaction goes.
The domain was moved right after I posted.

It turns out the buyer was actually a NamePros member.

When I priced the domain it was not that great, but the term has become way more relevant over time and into the future. It was a very good buy.

That's one problem with pricing domains in the first place, especially if you own thousands.

Time can make them more valuable and it takes a lot of effort to constantly go over pricing.

Brad

@GoDaddy What happened to the Dan.com API? We used to use that API to list all of our domains for sale. How can we list our names for sale with you now via API?

@GoDaddy please fix the problem where SOLD domains are not being removed. They are piling up.
Thanks @Bearded Goat. This is being worked on - we'll check in on the progress.

I don't understand why @GoDaddy slash Afternic keep insisting that the sales are as usual and it is just individual portfolios that might be down, while others are fine and overall is fine. Anyone I have talked to that has any significant number of domains have seen huge dropoff in sales since about mid October, coincidentally when Dan closed.

Here is a poll at Godaddy where 82%+ people say their sales are suffering, yet Godaddy has hard time acknowledging it and finding the root cause of the issue.

Show attachment 267270
@Recons.Com, this poll doesn't really hold true outside of social media. In fact, the seller that posted this, who you know well, had a roughly average month in November. December has kickstarted well for several of the sellers you know, too.

While there are improvements we're working on (such as the lander cart speed, which we've cut around 15-20 seconds from to date), individual portfolio optimization needs to be considered. There may be strategic advantages for your portfolio that you may not be employing right now. Your account manager will be able to delve into more details here, but we're ready to help, to ensure that Afternic remains a consistent sales partner for you.

@GoDaddy Thanks for improving basic functionality, these things are important.

As for the default upload template, make sure you also provide a default CSV template. At the moment there is only a default XLS template available.

(btw, in that XLS file it states that the maximum BIN amount for Fast Transfer is $25,000. This information is outdated.)
Completely agree, @Future Sensors. We're aiming to move to one sheet that you can both export and upload; the sheet that we're testing at the moment has been rewritten, and of course, information has been updated. Once we've tested it with sellers (with portfolios large and small), we'll publish it.

Hi @jideofor, if you've already reached out to the Afternic support team via live chat at afternic.com/contact, please connect with us via DM.

Hi @Brad Bowman
All Dan.com API users received a couple of emails: one in March, and in September, notifying them of the Dan.com API deprecation. If you can give us some added information via DM (such as portfolio size), we'll connect with the Afternic team to understand the options you have.

Result of uploading same spreadsheet that was downloaded from Afternic. No amount of re-uploading the spreadsheet adds the domains. No response from alleged support after more than 24 hours - Afternic landers were already unreliable and the sales process full of obstacles, but this is the final reason to not use Afternic landers!
Had the same issue, support is useless and only ask for more details in a loop.

Also noticing some domains get deleted when updating the list and the upload results say "UPDATE_PROCESSED" for the domains it deleted...

Q: How many Godaddies does it take to change a lightbulb?

A: None. They assure you the lightulb is working.

And if you protest, they say, sorry you're a bit dim, please describe the fault in detail and we'll have teams working on it next month.

Screw it, nevermind... Too tired. Lost hope of anything working properly.

Just to reiterate what we mentioned in our DM last night: it looks like the issue has been resolved. We'll keep a close eye on it over the next week or so to ensure everything stays on track.

Hi @carob
We haven’t received a DM from you yet to discuss the recent issue you encountered. Just a friendly reminder that we're here and ready to help!

I think you may not have read the relevant posts - mine, as do many others, make clear that the issue has already been raised with "support" - does Afternic actually have support staff and are they able to do anything other than ignore messages or send belated canned replies?

This one, here. Happy to connect with you if it's required.

@GoDaddy

What exactly do the "Premium" and "Verified Domain" badges on the Custom Lander mean?

I used to think it had something to do with the domain, but it's clearly an account setting, so how does it work?

I keep noticing it with new domain acquisitions, where the two badges are present (due to the prior owner's account), and then disappear once the domains are fully synched to my account. Suddenly this "Premium" domain under one account is not longer "Premium" under my account. Hmmmmm...

It's even stranger since the "Verified" badge states it's for "fast transfer" and the ccTLD in these listings does not even support Fast Transfer.

An explanation on how this whole "badge" account setting works would be most appreciated.

Lander badges are part of Boost, @DomainRecap. After careful testing, we’ve expanded the Verified badge eligibility to all domains (both Fast Transfer and Slow Transfer) on exact-match searches at GoDaddy. The lander now aligns with this rollout. We’re currently updating the lander badge tooltip to reflect this change for all domains, not just Fast Transfer.

Thanks for the quick reply, and this makes sense, assuming the above change is made on the FT badge notation to accommodate non-FT domains.

Ok, have a "BOOST" observation, so the people who pay 5% extra for boost, don't have their domain traffic, and other ranking stats displayed.

The people who DO NOT pay for "BOOST" have their traffic, and other rankings displayed, I checked one of my 3L.com names which gets thousands of uniques per month, it stated 0 traffic.

So shouldn't the people who pay for "BOOST" get digital insights added to their query page, or is this a punishment, for not having boost, as we know most domains the traffic comes when the buyer actually builds something on the site for the most part.

I would really like to have the option of displaying my traffic stats on the page, the same way we have the opportunity to opt out of boost.

Has anyone over there formed a focus group with domainers to actually run some of these ideas with people who are in the trenches everyday?

Given precedents, I had concerns that the display of domain insights might be a punitive move specifically targeted at non-boosted accounts.

To test this, I ran reg-path checks with two accounts: one with boost activated and one without. I found that insights were displayed for listings in both accounts, and the display of insights seemed randomized—sometimes, insights would be shown alongside a name; other times, no insights would be shown alongside the same name.

So, as far as I can tell, the insights thing is an equal-opportunity menace. Maybe others have different observations?

Regarding the “visits” stat showing zero or not being correct: I observed the same thing, and I think someone else mentioned it here too. Terrible stuff. I can't see how zero-value traffic stats wouldn't turn some potential buyers away. Really wish @GoDaddy would fix this.
