Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

If @GoDaddy wants to know the rep's name, it's Alex. He kept asking me my user ID and I kept giving it to him. Definitely not professional. It sounds like he was using a cricket wireless phone from his basement. I kept telling him to take me off speakerphone, but he kept saying "it's OK".

Hi @Smooth
Pending Sync domain names are names that are currently syncing across the distribution network, as the tooltip indicates. However, if your domain has been in this status for over 24 hours, itโ€™s usually due to compliance issues (trademarks).

Contacting support will enable our team to review the domain.

We're also working on enhancing the granularity of statuses to offer more transparency.

I'm 100% sure there's no trademark issue even remotely with the domain.

Also, I thought domains with compliance issues go into "In review" bucket? Now they also go into "Pending sync"?

Seriously, what's going on on AN? Is it extended Thanksgiving holidays? Nobody bothers to email the buyer?

I have been trying to add domains all today to Afternic. You have to keep trying before it goes through. Never seen anything like it.

You don't have to remove your listings from Afternic when you use another lander.

Only for premium names
And the commission starts from 15% to 35% based on pricing.

If you get sales from reg path At Godaddy or fast transfer sales, better to stay with Afternic.

@GoDaddy
It would be simple for me to tell you two examples. But instead of that, why don't we empower the Afternic Development Team? Simply have them join a couple of tables -- looking for examples where LEAD_CENTER.DATE_UPDATED_TIMESTAMP with "Buyer call logged", or "Email sent to Buyer" happened AFTER NAME_SOLD.PAYOUT_COMPLETE DATE_TIMESTAMP (I am making up the table / column names).

If they only find my two names, that would be great. My guess is they will find more than just my 2 names...

Forgot to mention -- a name that was sold and payout complete on Nov 27 still shows in my LEAD CENTER with a status of NEGOTIATION. Once a name is sold with payout complete -- should they move out of the NEGOTIATION status?
It's not that straightforward, @DN_Hunter, but if you can provide those specific names as examples, we'll ask the team to investigate.

Regarding your second point, yesโ€”once a name is sold, it should exit the negotiation status in the Lead Center. Please DM us that example as well, and we'll request the team to update it.

Anybody else having trouble listing domains on Afternic even after you verify them? The website must be having issues. Even the pending review section is not working.

Hi @rh2000
Weโ€™re aware that this error appeared for users yesterday; it should be resolving today.

Thanks @End User King, we'll pass this along to our support leadership team for review. Could you DM us your user ID, just so the team can track down your call?

Seriously, what's going on on AN? Is it extended Thanksgiving holidays? Nobody bothers to email the buyer?
Hi @phaethon,
In situations like this, our brokers are typically waiting for a response from the buyer. If they don't hear back within a certain timeframe, they'll follow up again via email or phone.

Hi @rh2000
If you're still experiencing issues with this, please let us know via DM, and we're happy to help.

I think he's referring to a common problem at Afternic, where the seller provides a price immediately upon receipt of the lead, and then it takes forever and a day for the broker to forward that price to the buyer.

2-3 business days is the usual time gap/delay (which even GD admits will have a negative impact on sales) but sometimes it can be longer.

Aaargh! Please provide examples? This forum is overloaded with examples. I encounter problems with GoDaddy and Afternic every single day. Sometimes the problems change, morph, or multiply but they do not go away.

We use the systems. Maybe some meaningful testing (and fixing) by people at GoDaddy should happen? Yes, that's already in place. No, it can't be. The reality speaks.

I could give more than one specific for today. Reporting problems here only serves to let others in the same leaky boat know that our experiences are not unique. Our frustration is shared. We care. GoDaddy does not.

Selling domains on Afternic is like playing chess by snail mail - every single move comes with a built-in delay of a few days.

test 2-3 times making offer on your domains and you'll see that sometimes you'll never any reply, some things are broken somewhere...

I get the perspective, @Garet. But specific examples of specific experiences are helpful for me, and the team to pinpoint any bugs that surface. Bugs that are surfaced here are investigated and solved.

My big problem is, and if X is any indication, this is shared by a lot of domain investors:

GoDaddy timed this half-baked transition to Afternic (before they had a seller brokerage tool) to exactly coincide with December, which due to about half the companies using Dec 31 as a year-end, is usually the biggest month of the year for domain sales.

It's a business transition plan concocted by a madman and implemented by sycophants. You either have the self-brokerage tool ready or you delay the migration until 2025. There is really no other sane option.

I'm getting consistent offers through December, but they just sit there like a dead rat, day after day after day after day after day... and I am absolutely certain that I would be making more sales by quickly responding to buyer offers using Dan's self-brokerage system than by waiting and waiting and waiting for Afternic brokers to finally send my prices off.

It's "Strike While the Iron's Hot" vs "Ah, Let 'Em Wait. It Builds Character"
