Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Domain status is "LISTED" in Afternic. I wonder how many sales we're losing with these bugs, while Afternic is busy changing colors to increase "clicks" by 43%!

Surely there must be a way to calculate the lost sales ?

With all of the acceleration from Boost, Afternic's D'oh! prevents too much sales velocity.

check in afternic if this domain is under review. The lander is usually one I see for my names under review or names I added within 72 hours. Also what do you use to record, it is very good quality.

No it's not under review.

I have 35 names in review and 1 in pending sync. This one was "listed".

I use "Fine Screen Recorder" for Windows to record.

@GoDaddy
For all this headache, we all continue to use GD for the Brand credibility and awareness. Your business team is doing a great job. Engineering team needs better prioritization. The logic on their landing page, and "buy now" buttons "feel" extremely complex. Shouldn't be like this. Keep logic simple, at least till the user goes to the payment step. By then, capture the lead details.

Even in case you can't accept payment without verifying domain/validating ownership/other complex logic, you have a high intent lead that can be prioritized & closed.

ICYMI: Afternic released a list of the top keywords in domain sales for September 2024 via X. You can also read a recent analysis of Afternic's keyword charts through the Afternic Blog!

Any chance of speeding up the release timeline for the monthly charts? Sharing the top keywords for a given month by the following month would make the data more timely and actionable for us in the short term.

When I think a little bit of what is happening at Godaddy and all it's businesses, I remember about my curses towards them.
That is why if they want me to lift/remove them, they will have to apologize publicly and pay for all the grabs they did, to compensate for my stress and sleepless nights!
You lazy grabbers and your Bangla CEO, because of this Bangla CEO's grabbers, the whole India country have to suffer.

Not many people know this, but GoDaddy is actually short for GonorrhoeaDaddy*. But it didn't do well in the ads so they shortened it.

*Forgive me GoDaddy/Afternic, it was only a joke. Now please give me a sale and I'll stop making fun of you. :-P
Afternic might be becoming Laughternic. :ROFL:

But I still love them.

Thanks @411domains. Providing examples is valuable to us and helps identify the issue you're seeing...

@GoDaddy - If only there was a website you could go to that lists recent domain sales and the platforms in which the sales took place...

I think we've all done more than enough work for Godaddy and Afternic.

Anyone here can duplicate the results within seconds. (Without me providing examples.)

If you don't want to take 30 seconds to do a little work, that's entirely up to you. It makes no difference to me.

Hmmm! We'll ask our team to take care of that one, @411domains.

Thanks, but no thanks. I neither need nor want anyone from your team touching anything in any of my accounts. Thank you very much.

Traffic stats mean nothing to me. I was merely pointing out the obvious.

How exactly does one achieve negatice traffic?

In my book, GoDaddy has one chance and one chance only, and that's to release a seller brokerage system that functions quickly and correctly, while offering a similar feature set to what we had at Dan.

If we get some cobbled-together piece of crap that doesn't work properly, has limited features, offers delayed updates, or is otherwise babysat by the "man behind the curtain", then that will be the final straw that broke this commission-paying camel's back.

Afternic keep re-enabling Fast Transfer on domains no matter what I say or do. Support say they cannot disable Fast Transfer - actually they have done it in the past - so they suggested a time consuming hack that displaces responsibility and time-cost onto the user, as usual: set price to over 100k on domain, which turns off FT, then set price back to original sub 100k value and ignore that FT enable request from registrar that should follow. Guess what? Having done that, FT is later silently re-enabled on the same batch of domains on which it was disabled.

Seems all mistakes favour Afternic, like the multiple reports here of unjustified extra 15% commission charges and Boost charges on those who have opted out, and late or absent payments. Much more of this and I will conclude Afternic is not simply incompetent, greedy and badly run, but actively dishonest. Certainly unreliable and untrustworthy.

Behaviour like this can occur when staff are subjected to arbitrary targets that are impossible to meet - they cut corners and cheat to avoid getting fired now over impossible targets in favour of getting fired later for cheating. Who'd want to work in such an environment?

Hi

My Domain Calvin Risk.com It has been 5 days since the domain was sold, and the payout has still not been scheduled. Despite multiple messages to the agent, I have not received any response. Could you please provide an update on this matter?

You can probably disable fast transfer at the registrar level.

@GoDaddy

5 days is well within the bounds of normal payouts, no need to flood their already overwhelmed support with more unnecessary messages.

@GoDaddy

@DomainFQ.com - I agree with @Kyle Tully on this and it looks like the sale may have happened through SAV, which means it could take a little longer.

Meanwhile, their entire system is off. It's been off for quite awhile now and not a single one of their experts, analysts or engineers have any clue.

@DomainFQ.com, Since it was publicly reported, I hope you don't mind me sharing the following example of how sold domains are still showing on the front of site.

If you do, let me know and I'll edit to remove.

@GoDaddy - This is for you.

What does this mean, the buyer paid for December already? (I've never looked at these that closely.)

It looks like the payment was for late November (which is in progress). And the next installment will be Dec 28?

Hi @Smooth
Looks like you may have added the domain to your account shortly before you recorded the video? The domain was likely syncing with the GoDaddy purchase path, which explains the temporary lander and search path messaging. Your domain is now displaying the correct Buy it Now price across your lander and GoDaddy.

Thanks, but no thanks. I neither need nor want anyone from your team touching anything in any of my accounts. Thank you very much.
Hi @411domains,
If you share a bug report here, we're going to take a look at it.

Hi @carob
We previously didn't receive a DM from you with your Afternic ID. If you're able to DM us, with this, we'll connect with Afternic's support team.

@GoDaddy
Congrats on the sale! Fast Transfer sales from Afternic's partner network usually take 7-10 days to pay out. Sales originating at GoDaddy are usually disbursed in under a day.

Thanks for this @411domains. We're aware that some sold names haven't synchronized to GoDaddy's search path, leading to the example you show in the screenshot. Our team are looking into this, and will resolve it.

What does this mean, the buyer paid for December already? (I've never looked at these that closely.)

Hi @Jannes
Afternic's support team would have the most accurate information for this specific transaction and status. Using live chat via afternic.com/contact, select the "Sales transaction status" option under "Request type" to chat with the transaction team.
