Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

In the interest of being fair, as I tend to harp on Afternic a lot, I got a very nice surprise this afternoon.

The broker (Josh - who seems to be a real dynamo) made a sale and actually got me more money than I asked for. He was also very quick with the updates (the inquiry was on Nov 21 and after a price + counter, he sold it a day later), so kudos to him for that effort.

This is what happens when you strike while the iron's hot.

P.S. @GoDaddy - Please assign Josh all my future domain inquiries. :xf.grin:
Josh? Dudes a beast

Congrats. I had a reverse experience.

A domain with bin of 4400, min offer of 1000 and floor price of 1299. Idea is, if an offer comes through, broker should be able to close.

But I got an offer of 1000. After broker's call with the buyer , buyer now says he can offer only 500.

I'm gonna move all sub 5k names to bin only.

1) Same here and I hate jerk buyers like that.

2) A lot of people have recommended the same tactic, as over the long-term it seems to yield more sales and less hassles from domain hobos.

Other day, as an experiment I called the 1-800# on an inquiry landing page, after waiting 24 mins on the phone, I hung up, with outsourcing, and Godaddyโ€™s intl offices, itโ€™s sad that an agent canโ€™t and at least field the inquiry within a timely fashion,

Another reason your losing sales is the inquiry pages are leading on upsells, this is not healthy for a simple inquiry, save this for after you sell the domain.

I also came across a tweet of how someone tried to purchase a domain, and had a car error, I have not tried to replicate this step yet.

These two factors also are enough to slow down sales velocity.

Plus you have black Friday / thanksgiving, and Christmas holiday season coming up, which can slow sales, and other transactional times down. I really hope afternic finds a way to make it less painful for people inquiring about domains to actually get the response they need to get their deals done.

If you scroll up last 2 pages of this thread as well check out tony domains on twitter and last article by domain gang you will see similar consensus with screen shots.

Also very easy to test the inquiry page, and pick up the phone and call the -1800 number and check for yourself.

afternic_upload_failure_2024-11-23.png

Result of uploading same spreadsheet that was downloaded from Afternic. No amount of re-uploading the spreadsheet adds the domains. No response from alleged support after more than 24 hours - Afternic landers were already unreliable and the sales process full of obstacles, but this is the final reason to not use Afternic landers!

I'm trying to purchase a domain at Afternic. It's just spinning. Why is it so slow?

I decided to grow a pair and leave. (They can't expect to be the only ones with an experimental attitude.)
I guess I just grew "half a pair" -- as I moved a little more than half my names to another platform. Once I resolve some issues/concerns I have with the other platform, I might move the other half of my names away from AN.

Sooo... where's everyone moving to?

So, some of you think the reason GD/AN wants to broker our names, instead of giving us the self brokerage option like Dan has/had is...to get all of the potential buyers information to use or sell to others? In other words data mine our potential buyers info, even if they don't buy our domains. Makes sense to me. We need the option to self broker quickly.

Landers: For me it's DomainEasy Brandable theme for 685 domains already. The rest with Sedo #15 as default. And Atom, Brandpa.

All domains are listed at Sedo FT and Afternic FT, but at Afternic none with a lander anymore.

Thank you. I've been wondering what landers you're using.

I haven't been able to purchase a name. I've been looking at on Afternic. Saw some post on Twitter about the Landers at Afternic not working anymore
