Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

We’re making important changes to Afternic's backend infrastructure to enhance our services and prepare for future improvements.

Over the last few months, we’ve been methodically updating sections of our backend “pipes” to streamline our internal listings architecture. This architecture connects your domain name listings and pricing to our services, including landing pages and the distribution network.

We’ve already made significant progress, consolidating several backend systems into a new single inventory management system. In July, we took a major step forward by updating GoDaddy’s search path to use this system for displaying aftermarket listings. As the next step in our upgrade process, the next section of our ‘pipes’ is to update the Afternic Seller UI.

Over the next 24 hours your portfolio is being transitioned from our legacy system to the new backend infrastructure. Two positive changes have already resulted from this upgrade:
  1. Advanced Filtering: Now available to all users, enhancing your ability to manage and sort your domains efficiently.
  2. Expanded Export Capabilities: Portfolio exports can now handle up to 100,000 domains, making it easier for large-scale domain investors to manage their listings. We’re working on increasing this limit even further in the near future.
Once we complete this consolidation across all of the systems it will create a foundation for faster development and rollout of new features.

For example, in the coming months this will unlock the ability for us to introduce self-service capabilities for domains in review, allowing you to address issues directly without contacting customer support. We're excited about the improvements and the foundation this provides.

You can read more about this update through our blog! https://blog.afternic.com/streamlining-our-backend/
These sound good but lets hope those next24 hours dont contribute to more bugs. I keep getting German version when I am not using any VPN or ever selected this language/country.

I hope it's not a pipe dream.

It's a bit of a shame that the blog doesn't kick off with "We listened", like the Boost announcement.

But at least it appears that you've found some things that can be improved in your systems.

Thanks for subtly expressing your frustration with the platform with us today.

Here is my case:

I deleted around 700+ names from my Afternic account and re-added them again because I wanted to camel case them in bulk instead of going into each listing and changing capitalization. This was a mistake. The fast transfer email was not triggered automatically to facilitate opt-in. Then my Afternic representative triggered it manually for all names. For the Dynadot and Namecheap registered names, the opt-in email arrived almost immediately. Can you guess which registrar I am unable to receive the opt-in email for days now ? Of course, it's GD. My premier representative there told me the email was sent on their side, and their IT also confirmed everything was in order, with a screenshot and verified time. However, I never received it on my end (checked spam and promotions folders). Now I am left with 1300+ names without fast transfer enabled. Has this happened to anyone? Any tips, workarounds, etc.? Thanks.

Recently i emailed afternic support to fix the issue of "Pending Review" for a specific domain newly listed .

The CLEVER staff replied that domain now actively listed AND he discovered lots of other domains in my record also pending review and he fixed their issue and activated them all .

Actually the other 21 domains he activated are recently expired and went for pending as usual :xf.laugh:

I really dont know to cry or to laugh about this stupid staff of afternic/godddy !!
And its make me more worried about this migration and the new afternic lander !! 😥😨

They delay maybe because they are still searching in your records for expired domains to activate their listings ! Lol

@GoDaddy Is it possible to disable afternic's fast transfer with godaddy and other registrars?
Thanks

Does Afternic plan to add expiring dates for the listed domains? I suggested this to Dan and never was added, another user suggested same, and probably many would like to see that.
Thanks.

Hi @DomainRecap,
Thanks for clarifying your situation. Since you opted out of migration, using ns1/ns2.dan.com will show an Afternic lander if the domain is listed for sale in your Afternic account. Regarding the Custom Lander, it does support Make Offer. Can you DM us more details about your statement that it "shunts everything over to the Request Price lander"?

Hi @cindydomains, Thanks for your detailed list! Here’s a recap:
- Self-brokerage is coming to Afternic in Q1 2025.
- Pushing names to registrar accounts is possible, but it’s best to discuss this with the TA team on a case-by-case basis.
- Our help.afternic.com site should answer most questions.
- We’ve significantly sped up payments since last year (https://blog.afternic.com/expedited-payout/), and more automation is on the way to make it even quicker.
- We appreciate your feedback on verification. There are no plans to change it currently, but we’re keeping an eye on feedback.
- Our distribution network shows eligible names to up to 85 million searches per month. Expanding this network and optimizing listings and seller services are our current priorities.
- Our expert brokers handle inbound leads, and this will remain unchanged. Check out the last section of this post to see the impact: https://www.godaddy.com/resources/news/afternic-launches-the-lead-center

Thanks again for your feedback!

Hi @mogo, Could you DM us your Afternic username? We’ll connect with the Afternic team to look into it.

Hi @the_poet,
We announced in August that automated invoicing is coming soon, eliminating the need to contact Afternic support. It's due for release in the next week: https://blog.afternic.com/whats-new-august-24/

Hi @Rhinnnn,
Previously, our payment system triggered emails late in the process, so you often received them after the payment was received. We’ve moved it earlier in the process so you now get the email before the payment arrives. Usually, the payment follows the email on the same day, but it may occasionally take a day or so.

Hi @kesen, Self-brokerage (handling negotiations yourself) is coming in Q1 2025.

Hi @Domain Pro Seller, We’re not planning to test having a Make Offer button alongside Buy it Now in the GoDaddy registrar path at the moment. We want to highlight the clear action of purchasing the name, but there is a phone number for motivated buyers who want to make an offer.

Hi @DomainNature,
We agree, and that’s why we’re releasing Live Chat soon! We'll share more details once it's live.

Hi @SuperPorky,
Please make sure to contact our support team and your assigned TA agent. You can also DM us the domain so we can track your progress with the Afternic team.
I could have sworn you said before the end of the year now 2025, man I just can wrap my head around why godaddy is shutting down Dan when the setting up and features at afternic isn't completed yet, almost like someone or something is chasing you. smh

Thanks @GoDaddy but since my case is very urgent as I need the invoice by Sep 10th for my fiscal duties, otherwise I'll incur a penalty, can you please generate an invoice manually?
Hi @the_poet,
We DM'd you.

@GoDaddy - Any updates on when slow checkout issue will be fixed?
Hi @silentg
As representatives of Domain Investors, improving cart speed on the Custom Lander is a top priority for us. Afternic is collaborating with several GoDaddy teams to identify and enhance key areas of the process - and this collaboration may take time. We understand this is a crucial issue for domain sellers, and we want to deliver stable and measurable improvements as soon as possible.

Hi @freety85
Currently, bulk CamelCasing isn't available. You'll need to go to the domain details page for each individual domain to make updates. Your Afternic rep can assist you with this. For your Fast Transfer names, your rep might be able to resend those emails. We recommend working directly with your Premier Services and Afternic reps to ensure your names are active again.

@GoDaddy Is it possible to disable afternic's fast transfer with godaddy and other registrars?

Hi @lennco
If you're looking to opt names out of Fast Transfer, we recommend reaching out to Afternic's support team through afternic.com/contact.

Hi @DomainNature
At this time, there are no plans to implement that feature. Regularly checking WHOIS data and reflecting it in real-time on your dashboard would require substantial resources. However, we appreciate your question!

I got 3 expiring names in review, should I keep them or remove?
Is this against the Afternic policy? I just want to sell them cheap until still in renewal period.

Afternic seems to be severely understaffed and taking too long to respond in all aspects from brokerage, transfers, customer service and payments. Dan with their small team were doing all these things much faster.

That's because Dan is a platform built for the future, with a hands-on negotiation tool for users, and many of the basic tasks being automated, while also offering a brokerage option for those larger, more delicate sales. Dan is a flexible system that saves time and money and increases sales.

Conversely, Afternic is a dinosaur of a system, with everything being manually done through brokers (with zero automation and massive delays) with no option to jump in and handle your own negotiations. Afternic is a closed and rigid system that costs time and money and loses sales.

Finally! Bulk search actually worked for me today. That was an incredibly long wait for a fundamental productivity feature but I'm glad to see it.

It's early but after some quick checking I've not seen anything that worked yesterday that is broken today. Fingers crossed... Your results may vary.

@GoDaddy Thanks, I did do that this morning. I contacted afternic support through chat and he was very accommodating and said I was now opted out but it still shows that I am "opted in" in my afternic account.
Do you know how it takes to take effect?

I had 2 domains on review status
1 is now active , the other one disappeared from my portfolio.

Also , I have 4 domains still on “Pending Sync” from Dan migration , 15 days ago

Contacted support many time , still waiting for an answer.

Does anyone else have huge number added to “in review” in Afternic portfolio this morning?

For me at least I think it is a portfolio display issue as ones I checked still show up with prices when search with TLD.

Presume probably temporary as new system comes online.
