We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

Exactly. I really can't understand all this MO and broker stuff. Put up a BIN and move along. This whole "what's your budget" so i can squeeze you makes no sense. If someone asked me that, I'd answer with a lowball budget and work from there.

I have contacted them, but they just asked me to wait for the transfer without explaining the reason for this delay.

That works for about 10% of my domains, so what do I do with the other 90% that I require negotiation features on?

If the reported issues in this thread got resolved and self-brokerage introduced then we're good to go.

Thanks for the update Jannes, and looking at current Afternic response times (which are incredibly bad) I cannot imagine how slow the brokers will be during the "First Release" phase. Right now, they're not updating any of my active negotiations from last week, and I assume things will only get worse post-migration.

After all, if GD plans to add self-brokerage in the Second Release, they're not going to hire lots of new brokers to handle the mass influx of Dan listings, just to fire them a few months later. They'll just make do until then. But that's assuming Afternic even meets their target and has self-brokerage up and running in 2024.

If you're using Afternic as your primary marketplace, better get used to eating gruel during this initial phase of pure chaos.

Anyone know how long it should take for names to update in Afternic after uploading a CSV file? I uploaded one a while ago and it said it would work in the background, but I'm still waiting to see the updates. Just wondering how long it's supposed to take. EDIT -- it finally updated. Fingers crossed that the upload worked correctly!!

Also, does anyone know if we are able to upload a list of CamelCase names to replace the all lowercase names in Afternic? Or do they have to be done one name at a time? (Ugh)

That's a very good question, as as having to do that all over again by hand would be maddening.

It's really slow, see this posting. And there's some bug, that for large CSVs, you don't even get a notification when the upload has completed.

Changing casing in bulk is only possible by contacting your rep, currently not in the dashboard. All these things are highly requested features, but Afternic is focusing on other things.

So if we don't have an Afternic rep we have to go through the process one name at a time? That's just beyond ridiculous, it's way too time consuming. C'mon Afternic, give us a break!

All these things are highly requested features, but Afternic is focusing on other things.

Yeah, like closing down Dan.

And damn, Afternic is a real biotch to use - I'm on there right now trying to find a way to work with it when Dan gets killed off for good, but it's seriously like moving from a luxury condo to back in your parent's basement.

It's just a recipe for disaster and for those who have never used Afternic, be prepared for a very loooooong wait for broker-controlled negotiations to move along. And by slow I mean S-L-O-W, like by comparison a sloth would look like Usain Bolt on meth.

It's kind of like being in suspended animation, except you can still talk and move around.

Because someone at GoDaddy has a vested interest in making the Afternic purchase look like it was a good one. There is no other explanation why anyone would choose Afternic over Dan.

Dan was always on life-support because GD wasn't going to keep both marketplaces going long-term.

Yes, very often it's not visible on first load. Reload works. But should always be there.

Thanks to him for bearing with me and for his help and efforts.

A positive thing to share today, I got a Fast-transfer LTO sale this morning and got paid the same day.

I have not had direct interaction with @Joe Styler in a long time. When I did, though, he was great to work with and went the extra mile to resolve a problem beyond my expectations. He cared and delivered. It would be promising if he is involved and empowered.
