Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The solution is simple, make a down payment mandatory. Make it at least 40% to 50% of the asking price, so any crooks will walk on by. Another solution, ditch LTOs completely.
In finance, what also works very well is a clearly stated (and hefty) Early Termination Fee. This will make potential lessors think seriously about entering and exiting the lto.

Could be set by seller.

Yes, I totally agree, good idea. This should be part of the contract. As it is, I have removed all LTO listings at Afternic. At least, Atom has a an initial down payment option.

Besides being able to set a down payment at Atom, Efty, etc... another advantage of NamePros, Efty, Atom etc... you also eliminate anonymous buyers.

Downpayment was something we asked for so long.

So let's get this straight - a mystery company leased the domain and then pointed it to the complainant's website for 7 months (Apr 2025 to Nov 2025) before terminating the lease, and this immediately led to the complainant filing and winning a UDRP decision.

To me, I'd be thinking the complainant or one of their agents may have stealth-leased the domain, forwarded traffic to their site and then filed the UDRP. Who else would altruistically spend good money to not use the domain, but only to forward it to a potential TM complainant the lessee has absolutely no connection to?

And this forwarding of traffic was a BIG part of their case and a major point in the decision. Without it, I doubt the complainant would have won. Hmmmmm.

There was also no accusation of the lessee offering the domain up for sale to the complainant (which would involve paperwork and other proof) so we're to believe some 'Joe Domain' guy spent real money just to forward a leased domain to a potential complainant's domain, without any link or contact with them or a potential sales inquiry.

Yeah, okay.
The complaint did not succeed - they did not get the domain. Complainant needed to satisfy 3 conditions and only satisfied 2:
https://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/decisions/pdf/2025/d2025-5085.pdf
where we can why the complaint failed by not fulfilling the registered in bad faith condition:
B. Rights or Legitimate Interests
Since the Complainant has failed to establish that the disputed domain name was registered in bad faith,
there is no need to address the present section
What I think @jberryhill is highlighting is that the domain is at risk in an LTO deal because the seller remains the registrant.

Presumably behind the scenes the facilitator of an LTO deal holds the domain but keeps the seller as the registrant - changing registrant would probably create other risks.

Ooops, I just read the arguments and about 2/3 of the way through it certainly looked like the panelists were going to give that puppy away. By JB's tone, it seemed like a complainant win but I should have just skipped to the end. :xf.grin:

Still, a UDRP is a lot of time, effort and potentially money wasted in defending it, and these complainant companies seem to be upping their game with new tricks and scams.

I read one awhile back where the complainant had a contract with a parking ad firm and was actively paying to salt the search results on a certain domain they wanted to steal. You can't make this shit up.

Appreciate the new feedback thread. My main suggestion would be to look into the UI responsiveness on the dashboard. Sometimes loading times can be slow when navigating between categories. Improving this would make the platform much smoother for sellers.

It's working for me.

Have you tried again?

How has afternic not integrated crypto or bitpay yet, like they are falling so far behind. So many legislations have made crypto so much more workable, and you have a worldwide base who wants to use it to make purchases, why ignore this ?

It's on their roadmap... for 2035.

Looks like stock options under water, might want to start implementing some new innovations. Everyone is losing sales, as foreign buyers donโ€™t have proper checkout channels. Compare other companies checkout options.

Is anyone else experiencing blackout on some transactional emails from GoDaddy lately?

Iโ€™m currently working with my account manager on a fix, but itโ€™s been inconsistent. My order confirmation emails aren't arriving unless my AM triggers them manually. Now, Iโ€™ve just placed a new order and hit the same wallโ€”no confirmation, and no 'transaction completed' alerts for auction wins. Renewal related or other communications from them are being received perfectly.

Is this a widespread deliverability issue or just isolated to my account? (Note: Itโ€™s definitely not a spam folder issue). Thanks for the feedback

As below I reported lately similar issue but no answer was here , The afternic laborer chat support couldn't figure the issue to solve .

After my investigation and the headache of emails back and forth with godaddy , it appeared that all emails from domain [email protected] are bouncing back !

If your case the same I recommend adding domain [email protected] to your email whitelist/safe senders list settings .
Also add domain [email protected] in your email as "my contact list" .

My issue was solved by steps above .

@GoDaddy @Afternic

For domains registered at godaddy and listed at afternic , From long time i am NOT receiving emails to activate opt in fast transfer same like in the past !!!
Many domains passed 60 days and no emails yet !!!
I did resubmit listing , But nothing changed !!
