most of my sales over the last 9 years have happened from a sales link on a parked or developed page directed straight to my own email address or contact form, I have sold some from sedo, moniker, live domain conference auctions etc... as well. They gave me a free account a few months ago but I haven't had time to list any yet as I have developed about 75 domains in the last 3-4 months as development has been my main focus as I'm looking to increase my google indexing as a front page google spot can drive end user leads and so far it's working well. I would say sedo, godaddy premium listings, fabulous domain distribution network and afternic with expanded promotion which gets them listed on multiple sites can't hurt as the more places you list the better chance of being found and they seem to target small business with their buy domains brand and other partnerships. Afternic Promotion Upgrades When I finish sorting my last few hundred domains into development or parked piles I intend to list a few there as a free listing can't hurt. It's all about reach and the more distribution channels you're in the better the odds and if the channels are free to list even better. Just add their cut of commission to your domain prices so add 10% for Sedo listings, 20% for Afternic expanded listings, 30% for Go Daddy premium listings etc... and then the buyer pays them.

Everyone has opinions but I don't care for Afternic. I had a paid account there for about 3 years and never once had even a single offer (in contrast, I've sold 3 or 4 at SEDO this year plus I had an offer recently that didn't result in a sale). Free or not, I don't care for Afternic at all.

I have similar experience. I have a paid account for a year with afternic and not a single offer. In the same time, I sold about 10 or 15 domains with sedo and turned off about 5 offers. (Altough most of those domains were parked with sedo, with sedo 'for sale' link. That helped for sure).

Can't recall but they were good ones, all the same ie nothing like BananaStar31.cc I had them priced at mid $xx mostly. Still, no offers.

They must be hurting to offer the "free" listings but I also have had zero return from previous listings at Afternic. Sedo, roadshows, and direct contact have given me the vast majority of my sales.

I think the lesson to learn here: Afternic doesn't yield (m)any results. Don't ever use them unless you wanna simply add your names to yet another marketplace.

Now I am mad because I didn't know about this and I just paid for a year membership like 2 weeks ago and that was towards the end of first week of April. I am gonna call them and ask them for a refund if they offered it for free why didn't they give me an option at the time of paying. This is crazy.

SEDO aint no big boy, just a hype :P less exposure after their design update which means very little business tbh!! :bah:

It doesn't hurt increasing the audience, doesn't it ? As long as it's for free. You increase your odds in selling a domain name.

i was long-time afternic member, even sold a few domains there

but charging a listing fee, when you're getting commission on sales, is a real deterent.

for me, sedo does just fine
