Afternic renewal

just received a message from afternic..the membership renewal is going up from $9.95 to $19.95 from June 1. It is still possible to renew at the existing rate during the rest of May, even if existing time not expired. Just did it. Pulls in 10 bazaar bucks on renewal. Don't know though if afternic will lose membership with the price hike....

I don't think so. If anything this may help weed out a few of the crappy domains and make afternic a stronger place for domainers to sell their products.

PRICE hike IS unwarranted IMO. WHEN Sedo is free and they are Nymber 1 and Afternic number 2 Usually you gain Market share being cheaper. MY renewal was MAY woohoo

If your are in the business, the extra $10 isn't that big a deal. I also see it weeding out some of the crappy domains that the good ones get lost among.

If they spend the extra money to improve the site, the parking, or partnership on which to show the names available for sale, so much the better. They just announced they were partnering with Enom to display aftermarket domains for sale, with more to come. Well worth the $10. In addition they are upping affiliate payments for member referrals.

eNom will soon begin referring domain buyers to Afternic.
The newest registrar to join the Afternic network is also the largest. According to RegistrarStats.com, eNom is the fourth largest registrar in the world. Much of the credit for eNom's success comes from creating a large network of domain resellers so it seems natural that they would understand the value of participating in our aftermarket network.

Exchange Membership fee increase
We paid $41,000 in affiliate payments last month. This includes affiliate payments to members for Afternic sales from parked domains and to registrar partners. Exchange Membership Fees play a large roll in funding our affiliate program and the recruitment of new registrar partners. To enhance this effort, we are increasing the Exchange Membership fee to $19.95 per year on June 1, 2005.

Still time to renew at the lower rate
Even if your membership does not expire in May, you can still renew at the current $9.95 for an additional year beyond your current expiration date by clicking here.

Affiliate commission increase
Now for the good news! Afternic is increasing affiliate commissions for Exchange Membership fees to 50%. Remember that participating in our affiliate program is as easy as parking your names with Afternic. You can use one of our affiliate banners on your own website.

Earn almost $10 from membership fees for each Exchange Member that you refer and you continue to earn commissions for a full year from domain name purchases that your referred members make.
