Hi all, I need some advice, please. There is a company wants to acquire my domain, I did some background check on the company, it is a rather famous company that produces health-care products, and my domain matches the name of one of their skincare lines, they wouldn't want to make me an offer, but asked me for my price, so they could decide whether they still want it or not. I'm not sure how much I should ask, since it's just one of their product lines, not for the company. It's not a .com, but a country extension. Thank you!

.US domains.US domains
ccTLD of what country? Quite a difference between .DE and, say, .FI.

It's a .DE, thanks!

How much should I try to ask? Not sure if they must have the domain, or just thought it would be nice to have it as their product homepage...

You might want to see and Compare with these sales. Will help to decide how much you should ask for.
Just wanted to add few tips . Don't be afraid to ask what you are looking for or maybe little more, But also make sure you make it clear that the price is negotiable.
Good luck .

Unfortunately there is no real way of giving you a price to quote without knowing the domain (which understandably you might not want to do).

That being said .. the size of the company certainly can be a factoring cost if you want.

I think it's fairly safe to say for an inbound request from a company that we're talking at least $x,xxx

Obviously you also want to be careful of trademark issues depending on the domain.

Best of luck on the sale! :)

Thank you! :) I was actually thinking about low $xx,xxx and if the company is serious enough, I'm sure they will respond me with their best offers. On the other hand, I'm sort of worried if my expected price would scare them away, I guess it's a risk I have to take, or I will never know.

.de domains have good value. I'd give them about 50% higher price than I want to get and mention that I'm open to negotiation.

It's certainly possible ... completely depends on the actual domain .. I just meant that you could ask for $x,xxx for just about any domain if there was a fair sized company making an inbound request .. even if the domain was below average in quality. Becasue honestly .. anybody giving you an actual $ amount is only guessing without having more information ...

Good point, thank you!!! Will keep everyone posted if the domain sells.

I guess I overestimated their sincerity, lol. The company said they didn't think that the domain worth more than 500 euro (being quite disrespectful for the name of their own product line), even though their company earns millions of dollars every year.

Remember that even if the total company is worth millions .. each department has it's own budget.

Plus their interest might simply be defensive. If it's a trademark it can't really ever be used by anyone else in the same industry .. and if the name relates to the industry then the defensive value is less than the cost of a UDRP.

Don't exactly take my advice since I don't know the exact domain .. but my general feel is that if you got the domain cheap (under $50) .. then go for the sale .. or if you're in the US or non-EU market use the currency to make an excuse for a small counter to $1000-1500 usd.

I have had the domain for less than a year only, so I want to wait a bit longer, the domain is a word plus it's a person's name (not super common though), I haven't checked whether it's a trademark, the company hasn't mentioned anything about it.

Good keywords in .de sell for cheap. Beer.de sold a couple months ago for $14,000 and that's a monster name. I can't imagine a skincare name that isn't even a company name being bought for anywhere near xx,xxx. Check namebio for sales history in .de and you will get a good feel for what you should ask for the name. If you price to high they will probably walk away. If it's a single keyword name you may be able to ask (not get) for a higher number and settle for less but if it's a two word name chances are you should be low x,xxx. Obviously it's hard to say without knowing the exact name.

Quite honestly without knowing a domain and a company name you got offer from ,no one can here say anything about price.

Check the search volume for that particular keyword/product in Germany...then check the cpc

Also, check search volume of related keywords in the niche as well and check their cpc. This will help give you an idea of the potential value of the niche itself in Germany.

Nobody ever wants to say a price :singing:

I'm not sure how much I should ask

Ask for high 5 figures or 6 figures, then let them continue to make offers and don't bring down your price.

You own the exact name for their product, they want it. Just be aware that most large companies who are making an inbound inquiry will be okay with $15k - $30k and won't put up much resistance at that price point.

This is why you domain, the big sale... so close, be happy, and take a vacation with the proceeds.

I guess 2017 isn't a good year for domaining then, quite a shock to see Beer.de sold at such a low price. I asked for a high price, not ridiculously high though, also stated that I was willing to negotiate the price, the company rejected it without counter offer. I had to ask for their best offer price.

Sorry, but I don't want to reveal the domain name yet, although I understand it's impossible to give a value without knowing the exact name.
