med // - // basics (d0tCom) <-

.net, .org, .co, .info, .de, .biz, .mobi are all registered by a german company already and I'm assuming that they would want the .COM

Do any of you know how I should go about this and if you think this company would want the . COM ?

I don't see why they wouldnt.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm almost 100% sure they want this domain. If they were trying to buy all the domains in that exact name I don't see why .com wouldn't be the final step for them.
Also, I would just email them with any information like statistics and the ".com" value for a company.

Just make sure when you contact them through email or however you're planning to, to sound as professional as you can!

why com is last preference? anyway.. imo build a good professional page that will shout clear intention that domain is for sale. I will also advice you to use contact form instead of plain email id.

Should I ask them to make an offer or state a price?

Well I think you should let them to start the game (as it could be more than your expectations) if they are with the price less than yours then open your price cards.. ;)

Surprised that there should be any interest in med-basics, particularly because of the hyphen.

I like your title, "reaching out to potential buyers", which equals "spam" to me! Personally I would be hugely reluctant to send an unsolicited email to anyone as these days they are likely to cry spam and you might find yourself losing your domain.

In such a case where you have identified an individual, it might be an idea to write a proper letter to them.

The above said, if he has every domain bar the .com then I would imagine he would have been keeping an eye on it and would know that it had been registered by someone else, in which case he might contact you but I find it difficult to believe that this name would be of any great interest.

I don't really understand what your saying in reference to spam mr sweeney....

Anyway's there is no TM, I checked.... I can't see how you can TM a name like that anyway...

Also Mr. Sweeney, you didn't know Germans liked to use hyphens in domain names?

Just sit on it. It's the best thing you can do right now.

Joshua does bring up a good point. Germans do love hyphenated domains. Half of all .de (Germany's country code) domain registrations are hyphenated!

It all depends where you want to do business. If you plan to do any US business, lose the hyphen. As always, owning both versions of the domain is always best.

Check for TM issues

State a price if you are approaching them

I have found that some german companies will not want the .COM if they are using the .DE as their main site, they often register other "available" extension just to protect their brand.

Let them know you received an offer on this domain and you notice that they have all the alternate extensions and you were wondering if they would be interested in owning it before you move forward with the sale.

Hmmm, lie to them? Personally I don't think it's terribly clever to lie to prospective or existing customers. If you've got a good name you don't need to scam someone to sell it.

I like when people do that lol as if everyone was born yesterday

Whoa, those are some pretty serious words you are throwing around without leaving no room for debate.

That is called salesmanship that is used every single day, the type of things you can hear on the home shopping Network "call in now or you may miss out, we've been selling this item by the thousands, once we become sold out, we'll be sold out for good". I don't think they'd be allowed to say those things if it was considered scamming people.

Saying you've received offers or negotiated with others when you haven't is a part of everyday sales in all types of industries, from real estate, to stock, to flea markets, to even TV Shows like Pawn Stars.

While you may dislike it, saying it is used by scam artists is a bit overboard, that's about 80% of all p2p sales.

If you have to lie to sell your product, you have a shit product.

It's called creating a sense of urgency in sales, and that's just one way to do it. Creating urgency isn't "scamming". When was the last time you sold a domain? Don't lie :)

It's called creating a sense of urgency, and that's just one way to do it. What was the last domain you sold?

FormToEmail.com, it was a developed site. Sold it for $66,0000 USD on Flippa. Got lots of interest and sold it in a day. It was a quality product, no need for lies or bullshit.

I sold my first name (LondonToLet.com) for ยฃ5,000 GBP in 2000. No lies, no bullshit. The buyer came to me.

Congratulations. When was the last time you made a non-passive sale for a domain only and not a developed website with income? And what does creating a sense of urgency have to do with the quality of a product? There are other ways to creating a sense of urgency compared to saying you already received an offer, true, if you would like to share some I'm sure the OP would appreciate it.
