Havent been around in a while
I got kind of fed up with the whole thing and wasting a lot of money so decided to take a break

I am however at the moment setting up a few online businesses and was looking for names for them (un reged) and this lead me back to my interest in domain names

have a bit more cash now and was thinking of buying a couple
before I make more mistakes I want to ask some questions on how to value domain names

I have been looking at keywords for domains and was wondering if there is a value between keywords.com's and google searches
EG if a keyword(s) get 200,000 searches a month does that make the name more valuable

Or should i look at keyword domains that have a high google adwords cpc rate
eg domains related to real-estate

I was looking today at after market info and I have a question
EG if housesinlondon.com sold for 2000USD and hosesinnewyork.com for 1000USD is it resinable to assume that housesinparis.com is a good investment

Also whats the market like for cctlds at the moment and should look for domains that have good keywords in the corresponding language of the cctld

I have a bit more money to spend but not a lot so looking for advice

Thanks

Hi,

If a domain has a keyword phrase that is used a lot in searches, it helps the domain to have more value in general. But if you are using Google to get search numbers, makes sure you look at the "exact" search numbers as well as the "broad" or "phrase" search numbers because they can vary greatly and only the exact searches really tell the honest story. Then the bid price or CPC is also a factor, but both of these are more important to those that park or who are selling to someone that parks. I think it is less important to someone buying a site. This is because the SEO value of a domain is a real thing, but very small when you look at the potential SEO value of a real site.

If you are thinking to find domains, register them, and then resell them; you need to know that it may be hard to make much money doing this unless you get lucky, or figure out what to register that people have not thought of or that is something new that will become popular, like "neuro marketing".

Yes, if you see a pattern like "housesinxxxxxx.com" then there is a good chance that will be a good investment. But in your example, the first two are both English-speaking countries, and "housesinparis.com" may not work unless the words are in French.

I like ccTLDS like .us, .ws, and some others, but if you look at the ccTLD sales thread you will get an idea what is and is not selling, at least on NP. People are either asking huge prices that will probably never sell, or they are having to drop their prices to $x-$xx to get rid of them. I think as time goes on ccTLD will become more popular as people cannot find what they want and see more of them in use, but most other domains will all lose traffic to the .com version.

Since this is your second time around I would mostly learn more by talking to others and keep watching the sales threads that are on topics you are interested in. Cruise the AUCTION and BARGAIN BIN topics and you should find some nice domains that you can pick up cheap. And it may help to make some friends that you can trust who you can talk about domains you are thinking of to get some different opinions.
