I know that there are a lot of threads dedicated to teaching people how to sell domain names to end users, forums, etc. There are also many threads dedicated to showing people how to buy from Namejet, SnapNames, TDNAM, etc. However, are there any tips or hints there from the buyer's end about the process when there isn't a fixed price or the domain name is not in an auction, but is listed for sale? How does a buyer know when a seller is playing hard to get or when the buyer is overpaying? Obviously, all parties involved have to do their research, but after the research has been done, how does the buyer handle the approach and translate it the communication into a transaction both parties are happy with?

The best training is experience or having a coach that has the experience. You will end up making mistakes but try to make sure they're small mistakes.

Yes I agree with you, exprience is the only thing which can't be learn from books and text.

Time will teach you, as soon as you spend time, you will learn it. Meanwhile books can help you.
