Hi.. I Have a quick question.. Should I report possible click fraud on my account to google . Yesterday my site only had 41 views according to google (196 accordin to my logs ) any way there was a CTR of 8% yesterday . The day prior I had a CTR of 2% with 153 views according to google. Both days had 3 clicks. Is this normal or am I just stressing about nothing.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Your account would be banned unless you reported it in person to Google Head Office by next Monday. You must take with you a valid passport as well. A marriage certificate may also be necessary.

What is the normal CTR

Don't stress over it Ray, CTR fluctuating is normal. It could be as simple as a more attractive ad being displayed that day.

There is no 'normal' CTR. If your visitors are non web savvy types they may be more inclined to click on a shiny link in the corner causing CTR to rise. If your site attracts other webmasters your CTR will likely be fairly low.

Of course it's a good thing to watch and to try to increase using different ad placement etc, but a 6% change isn't a big deal at all. as long as you aren't breaking the TOS is any way I wouldn't worry about anything.

Besides, do emails to google actually ever make it anywhere?

Wouldn't worry about it - fraudulent activity usually shows up as a BIG, sudden increase. Like a page that normally gets a few cents a day all of a sudden bringing in $10, $20 or more. Yours sounds well within normal range.

fyi, believe it or not, it is against their t&c to discuss account details like ctr - see the "confidentiality" section of the program terms. But this one discreet mention isn't likely to land on their radar :) ...

you lucky guys as I am getting less than 1% CTR.... so even a rise of 5% would not even ring google bells

Normally I bring in 30-60 cents a day. Yesterday was 1.83$. It's because I made it to te front page of google for a certain term. That's what intially caught my eyes. But it still only 3 clicks. So it must have been a high keyword since Adsense allows gambling sites and ads now
