Not sure if anyone would be open to this, but would any of the more experienced domainers like to take a newbie under their wing?

You will tell me what to do and and do some guiding when needed, and I will do the legwork of the buying/selling/researching, etc. process. When a sale occurs, you get all of the money.

Not that I disrespect the amount of work that goes into becoming a successful domainer, but I'd really like to speed things up a little, since I need approximately $400 by the end of the month, and that means I'm going to need to learn a lot more, and a lot more quickly, to get any result even close to that. And a mentor is just what is needed to make that happen.

Would you be interested?

To your first comment, actually none of them get any traffic yet as they were just registered, so of course I can improve on that.

Then, from what little I have learned so far it is better to look for generic search terms than socalled brandable domains, right?

So I looked for generic search terms like 'lose debts' etc. Is this not generic enough? Or is the main problem that they do not have the .com extension? To rephrase: Would 'lose debts' dot com be an attractive domain? Or would it still not be worthwhile? (I know the .com is registered already, but just as an example.) How 'good' do generic key words have to be to be attractive?

If you only just registered them I would try to get a refund from your registrar. You have to ask yourself why they were not registered already. All the good domains are already registered (well... 99.99% of them). I would rethink your strategy of registering new domains. You should be buying domains in the aftermarket. I would recommend GoDaddy Auctions as a good place to buy aftermarket domains. Look for ones with traffic. Most domains without traffic are not worth buying. Believe me, I've bought many of them.

Are you willing to take another one under your wings? I am just discovering a whole new world and I fear it will become seriously addictive... and very expensive unless I know what I'm doing?

Another question: I've registered them at Sedo, but I fear they'll just get lost in the big heap. Any ideas how to show them off to people who might be interested?

Out of the original bunch, Settle Debts dot net is my personal favourite. Plenty of searches and ads for those key words and a CPC of almost ten dollars per click.

Well the actual term 'Settle Debts' only gets 58 exacts a month which isnt great....I put all your domains into Google keyword tool and with and without spaces the highest exact was 'family shows' with 880 which is still pretty low....

Sorry, as others have said, not much potential in the names above. But then the upside is you know that even before you have invested in a dozen domains. It can only get better.

One thing about "settle debts" is, it should be grammatically correct. It should read "settle debt". But even then what can you make out of the website? "Settle debt" can be used for what purpose?

Having said that, There are some debt consolidation agencies which you see on tv, who promise to consolidate the debt and make it one payment a month or something to that effect. Some websites call that debt management. Maybe worth a try pitching your "debts" domain to them.

Anyway, since I initially made the newbie error of adding the domains in fulltext - even as links - this thread has become highly searchable, so I think I should refrain from discussing them any further whilst I still have them. Hope you understand

Very first post. Newbie. I agree with the post that stated read,read and read some more. I started three months ago and have purchased 90 domains. That is terrible in some eyes. Exact match, Google algorithms, monetizing, SEO, clouding etc..... There is a heck of a great deal of work that goes into understanding the whole business. After I am finshed reading Digital Impact a book by Vipin Mayar and Geoff Ramsey would anyone please refer me to a useful read on site building as I am very weak in that area also. They express building a site as a click,drag and drop but there is a whole lot more to it as I have just touched on the subject reading articles.... Thanking You in advance...

By the way, estibot is useless. Don't trust it.

.CO is not a good extension to build your portfolio with.

Get sufficient .com in your diet as well. Typically those which are better quality. These you can get at auctions.

Thanks. Estibot is really useless when it comes to seeing if a domain has value. It could easily appraise a meaningless domain, as being worth $x,xxx, and a domain which should be in the $xx,xxx range, as having a value of $xx or $xxx.

So it can actually have a negative impact on your intended buying strategy.

Did you pay in advance? Maybe you can cancel the subscription? Hopefully you can.. perhaps get a refund too- if they allow that.

I have 200 domains and tried developing one. It was page 1 position one for months till my many months of work got scraped and lost position. This went on till I just gave up...As far as estibot is concerned. I find they are a more Google Adwords based valuation. Search terms, traffic and CPC. Length of domain and of course .com, biz etc. They do not really consider brandable domain values at all. If you use adwords and a formula by Andrew Rosener has his own valuation formula. I find it interesting. Check it out. It really makes sense.

Waste of time, will not sell your domains, will take up your time. Stick to the domains. Ignore all the stuff you read about making money off traffic - it only applies if there is a lot of traffic and it is traffic that can be monetised and the gain, if any, is worth more than the time and money spent.

Are .biz domains worth investing in? I bought one I think it was Ebay. I am fairly new so I did what I read to do. I went to Adwords and the name fets 3600 type in and a suggested bid of $16.53. That is one way to value correct? I have been reading that you should only buy .Com but see pretty fair numbers on .Biz sales. I am soooo confused
