Adding TXT record in Namecheap DNS set up

I wanted to add txt record for SEDO verification on namecheap and I was told by their support that I cannot add a text record unless my nameserver is pointed to Namecheap and the text record goes away once I update the NS back to DAN or wherever I am parking on.

Is this true or the tech support isn't sure?

I don't think i ever had that issue with other registrar. In fact my DNS are all over the place but I remember adding text record in bulk at epik.

But how about adding? can it not be added under the DNS records even if name server is elsewhere.

I am at Namecheap. NS is pointed to DAN and SO I can't add text records then?

Yes, their panel doesn't provide DNS editor when 3rd-party nameservers are set.

This is only specific to namecheap I suppose. I don't think I had issues with others
