According to the Enquirer:

For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful.

Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi — who both have pilot’s licenses — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto’s airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor has received outpatient treatment.

He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.
“He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure,” said an insider.

The man who danced into the hearts of audiences worldwide in the 1980s in Dirty Dancing and then broke them in the poignant love story Ghost in the early ’90s has lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet because he has trouble keeping down solid food, added the insider.

“It’s time to start praying for a miracle.”

Let's hope this is some celebrity BS.. best wishes to the actor and his family!

Horrible and unfortunate. I can't imagine how he's handling this. Being told that you only have a certain time to live is the most horrifying thing imo.

You can do it!

"Pancreatic cancer has the highest fatality rate of all cancers, according to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is between three and six months and only 5 percent of those diagnosed live beyond five years."

It's a scary thing for him and his family. My heart goes out to them. They did have a report today from his doctor though that the news of his impending death has been greatly exaggerated and the disease had not spread very far, giving him a better chance for survival.

Reading over a few articles, this '5 weeks to live' is entirely untrue. He's very fortunate that his doctors consider it 'small', not far spread. There's still time to stop it.

I'm not sure how many here know, but my mother had stage 3 pancreatic cancer, she had surgery and they were able to remove it all (along with chemo+radiation treatment). Now we just have to wait and see if it stays gone.

I have an idea of what Patrick is going through, and I'm keeping him in my prayers, I suggest others do the same. :)

his was meant to be another series for Landon, but on April 5, he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, an inoperable pancreatic cancer that had spread to his liver and lymph nodes. On April 8, 1991, he appeared at a press conference to speak of his illness promising to do the best that he could to fight the cancer On May 9, 1991, he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson to speak of his illness and to publicly condemn the tabloid press for their sensational headlines and inaccurate stories, including the claim that he and his wife were trying to have another child. Less than 2 months later, on July 1, 1991, Landon died in Malibu, California, at the age of 54.

Diagnosed April 5, 1991 at the age of 54. Died two months later.

It's a horrible situation. All the more magnified as everyone knows his name and work.
I wish him the best and the most strength that someone can conjure to continue fighting. He's in incredible physical shape which will hopefully assist the fight and he's got a chance to come out ahead!
