Actor Owen Wilson Attempts Suicide

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Actor Owen Wilson was taken to a hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., Sunday, reportedly after attempting suicide.

Wilson was transported to St. John’s Hospital. Citing sources, The National Enquirer and Star magazine said the star of "Wedding Crashers" and "Starsky & Hutch" had cut his left wrist and taken an undetermined amount of pills.

He was found by a family member who called for help.

Santa Monica police confirmed only that the actor had been taken to a hospital, TMZ.com reported.

Hmmm... this is so hard to believe. He seems to be a really "well-adjusted" human being who has everything going for him, plus he's really popular right now. WTH? I hope this somehow turns out to be false.

It is hard to believe given his on-screen persona.. but if we remember he's an actor, he apparently did a good job covering up his own problems. My favorite movie with him was The Minus Man (he played a serial killer).

According to wikipedia (yea I know), initial news reports say he was taken there for dehydration. So I'm kind of skeptical.

Man this is kinda creepy. Earlier today while i was sitting on the can, for some reason it crossed my mind that he hadn't been in any real recent movies, and I was wondering what had happened to him lol.

Well, I live in LA. And as reports were relayed to the media. He was sent to the local hospital in Santa Monica than taken to Cedar Sinai in West Hollywood/Los Angeles. Which is a great and wondeful hospital. Huge in all aspects for many reasons. They are great for cancer and certain sugeries as well as one of the biggest units in the LA area for depression/addictions/eating disorders things of this nature. Like an entire 2 floors of one of the wings of the hospital. They sponser several AA, Al non, eating disorder, sexual, coke anon, gambling groups et cetera there. You pretty much can go there any day of the week and there are several types of these group meeting going on.

So indeed it may be to "dehydration". One does get dehydrated in many cases. But if that was the case they would not have moved him to Cedai Sinai. And I do believe the first hospital he went to was Saint Johns in Santa Monica. Great hospital as well. And a hospital to the celebreties. Same place where John Travalota and Tom Cruise had their babies recently(on the same day - I have a friend who worked in the unit the same day). But anyways............

I agree. And he appears to neve had a slump in his career as of yet. But it appears by reading up in wiki. He was rebellious and had some issues in high school. Eventually went to a military school. And ended up being a Colonel and excelled in the school.

He and his family have asked for privacy for the moment. And it was his brother Andrew who found him in his home.
