A Whole New Proxy Script To Come - What Features Do You Want?

I'm Considering Making A New Proxy Script From Scratch.

I have used PHPProxy, CGI Proxy & Zelune. I guess I just miss the point here.. There's A Lot missing in these scripts & I wanted to get everyone's input. I am seriously ready to make a whole new proxy script from scratch. Here's my current gripes with the existing systems:

1.) If a proxy script is 100% Anonymous - Why do I get tons of info in my cpanel logs? I am getting sick of seeing what people are surfing for & their IP Address, whatever it may be. This info is usually documented & mined for years.

2.) No Google Ads On The Surf Pages? C'mon.. Why not? Can't we mix in the google adsense experience help the surfer on their quest? I just don't get how anyone can make money off the landing page ONLY.

3.) I don't find a use for this in the address bar: http://www.n2q.net/cgiproxy/nph-proxy.pl/010110A/http/www.youtube.com/
why can't we do a simple strip of any spaces, www & .com? and have it look like: www.n2q.net/youtube/ ? It would help SEO & google adsense ads if inside pages can show ads.

I think the speed is there & bandwith isn't too bad, I'd like to concentrate on the above three points before considering the speed good proxies are running at. Just need to claim back our territory & offer great ads while people are surfing over our proxy's.

It's against AdSense ToS to put it on sites you don't own without permission, i.e. - almost any site that someone uses a proxy for. If that were implemented a lot of users would be banned.

What if the www. and non-www. version are different? That would stop it working, if it was .net instead of .com - Surely that would create problems?

If you ever have any legal issues with your proxy, that sort of info can help you a lot. I advise you keep things such as IP Address incase of legal issues.

cgiproxy comes with adsense ads in the top iframe, but it's probably not allowed to do that. well but you can still use adbrite on those sites .. and it's not that hard to implement

make a script that comes with hotlink protection so that it redirects users to your starting page if they want to access a site directly thorugh your proxy

I agree with Danltn, these logs are very useful if there is ever illegal activity and/or abuse of your proxy (i.e. spam, viruses, etc..). If authorities ever contact you about that illegal activity, you need to hand over those log files. I highly suggest you keep that.

It is not mainly about Adsense and getting permission. It is against their TOS to have adsense on pornographic or illegal, file sharing websites. Now, why do most people use proxies? In order to surf on porn sites and illegal warez sites. By putting adsense on the surf pages, you are putting Adsense on a porn site or illegal sites. Big No-No! You will definitely get banned.

There is a good reason why those things are 'missing'. So, that we do not get in trouble ourselves.
