A new name of mine was "scam site"

One of my new names, that's a pretty darn good one, I just realized is listed all over the place as a scam site,, in hundreds and hundreds of pages. If I google the entire domain name, it does come up in the listing one time, so maybe it's not banned form Google (I guess that's what that means).

Can a name easily recover from this?

I don't think so. These references will continue to exist. maybe there is a possibility to contact the owners of the websites to explain the situation and ask them polightly to remove the reference to this domain.

Contact Google to remove the caches of these pages.
This for you would require to make a complete inventory of all the pages where these referennces can be found.

This can only be possible if you make a website with this particular domain if the content would be entirely different from the old content.

Sell it, gain some cash, get a new domain.

Does it receive any traffic from these "scam site" references?

If it does, turn the tide in your favor.

Put up a mini site with information on "fraud" and "scams". Try and generate PPC revenue with it.

Bad site gone good!

Give it a try, if it doesn't work...aw well.

I had to ditch a name because the previous owner had done some things that Google considered spam (nothing major, but enough to get de-listed). It stinks, but sometimes it's the best thing to do.

It would be very difficult to sell the domain at what might be considered a fair price with its history and it would be dishonest for you to not disclose the information obtained to a prospective buyer.

When you bought this domain, was the history behind it made known to you?

Best wishes,
Kimmy
