Greetings everyone

I am sure we have all done this. I know I have during the past 2 months buying a lot of .tv names, channel names, channels name and etc. Then I bought a one word key word name awhile back ago and in the mindst of buying 2 more names through here

This is a dedicated thread on how you go about in hiding the domain purchases. Tell us your stories.

I try very hard in not doing this to often.

Been dying to know how the big geo owners and there big year expenses are explained on this one. The more money they have the easier it is I am sure. I am not in that league.

I will do a couple posts in next couple days on my end. I sense roses this month or a nice meal out. Lol. My puppy kona is going be in this thread and smash gave me that idea as she was mentioning how she tells her husband that the credit card was high due to kids. No kids at my end, just a high maintance, tons of energy black lab puppy. So buy a lot of clearance items and tell wife I paid full price. Perks of kids, they demand more money lol.

Will enjoy reading everyones tips, how they handle things, approach things and perks to your spouce.

Disclaimer. Not encouraging in this and keep an open relationship going. Not encouraging in re mortgages or refinances, or credit card purchases, big equity lines on house for domains. I am in a small league. Just curious how they handle things and tips

i get the mail while he is at work- then i remove the credit card statement, and just put the stub in the bills drawer- when he asks for the statment, i blame it on my 3 year old who likes to rip apart mail and destroy it- then i say i had to buy the kids extra stuff for school which explains the higher payment- and he pays the bill, and life goes on-
one day, he will realize he can view the statement online, and then, you might not see smashfactory on the boards anymore

I have been caught looking at Adult sites ( for research purposes ), my wife is cool and knows everything i have spent on domains, i have had a few offers lately which i have turned down, even though i could do with the cash and she doesn't mind so i don't need to hide anything, ( well not yet anyway!, wait till the renewals come up. :hehe: ).
Although she did used to look kind of scared whenever i talked to JohnTV as it usually lead to another few $xxx going on another name!, but i think we are cured of our coop addiction now , no really we are, eerr, John ,back me up here . We are all cooped out , at least for now .

I am glad I don't have to hide anything. I actually let my girlfriend know about my domaining. She knows I buy and regged domains and she also have a good idea of how many domain I have in my portfolio. She's in medical field I acquired some names in that industry.

Since my portfolio is getting larger I'm thinking about pushing some of these domains into her account that she recently created. So what happens next surprised me. I started pushing some of the shorter domains into her account. Then I want get rid of some of my longer domains and I thought I should just pushed it to her account and when I told her I'm pushing these names (longer name) she refused. She told me she doesn't want any of those long domains. She said she only wants domains that are short and easy to remember. I was speechless.

i think the need to hide your domaining is lessened if you're actually turning a profit. very few people in my "real" life know about stuff i do online.

Well I am happy I am not the only that is doing this.

Girlfriends knowing the shorter name the better.sign of common person learning the game

My wife and I view things completly different on things. Can be a challenge at times but for the most part its gone well. Well, the names I don't tell her I pay mark up on. She also dosent know how many names I own. She thinks couple hundred names lol.

Its her 30th next week and I am actually thinking in giving her or buying a .tv name and open a new account up on top of her usual gifts and eating out for dinner.

I am a rookie in the field and just love the internet and ran couple couple dot com businesses. .tv names that's all I am buying now. There rich in price but feel there worth it and going pay off well in 5 years time similar to the .com explosion. That's my take and my wife dosent understand the growth, when I tell her who is involved in .tv, registration growth, even asked her for thoughts on how to name things its like I am speaking to my puppy kona. She tries to learn and listens. That's all I can ask for I guess.

I am buying 2 names over the weekend and its a smaller amount. Just waiting for a check come inn. I am dying to drop the 2500 on my real big time purchase right now but can't. The shit would hit the fan if I did this. Just doing the few hundred here and there. The 2500 dollar domain I love, happens to be a country even though I surveyed under city vs country. We shall see.

Not for nothing here...but if this is just your girlfriend and you have no legal contractual agreement with her, what's to stop her from one day writing you a "Dear John" email and taking your short domains with her?

An argument can be made that since it's her account that you're pushing the names into, it can be legally considered that you gave them to her as a gift and they are now her property.
