Just looking at the example of my 20 year old and all of his friends, they have a cell phone attached to their ear. It is their life. They use the internet for a few basic things. Instant messaging, downloading music, and perhaps lastly......looking for a job. Mortgages and stock quotes will come later in life.

I think the only thing that will hold back .mobi is the cost of usage. If a telco offers unlimited cell time, unlimited text, and unlimited web surfing...you can throw out the home pc and the home phone. If the monthly price comes down to say 100 per month, I will even get rid of the pc and home phone and just carry around one of the snazzy new pda units.

It soon maybe time to sell the Dell shares. Of course, Microsoft may see this coming and decide maybe .mobi isn't such a good idea afterall. I mean, who needs the latest version of Windows for your PDA?

The Pc is not going anywhere, why would you trade your pc for your pda....when you can have both. I personally would rather have my pc for home use and a pda for when I am out and about....

The car radio was an evolution of the home radio. The cellphone was an evolution of the home phone. .mobi is the evolution of the internet.

I am looking forward to the day of the seemless, wireless sync between home computer, cellphone/handheld computer, car diagnostics, tv recording etc etc.

I see a day when your cellphone will have "thumb drive" aspects to it. In that you could stick the cell phone up to any computer and download songs, access the internet etc. I think it's already being done, but not on a mass scale. The PC when this happens then becomes a "Drone"...nothing more, nothing special to it.

Your mobile on the other hand is by your side all the time and as the saying goes, which ever is closer to you becomes more important
