A Billion $ in insults!

I'm an independent politically who can't help but marvel at the tremendous waste in out Presidential race. Both candidates are screaming about change and ending wasteful spending. Yet it's more of the same old crap sling we've seen for 20 years. And spending more than a billion $ to do it.

Obama was proud to announce he raised $60 million dollars in august for his campaign. Making his record spending efforts at 470 million. That's half a billion dollars spent on insulting John McCain and George Bush. This from a man that claims to be a grass roots community developer. Do you know how many families could have been helped directly with half a billion dollars? McCain camp is a little less offensive but still can't seem to put out a commercial with out slamming Obama.

And the real point here is that all this money has been spent on nothing more than insults. Insulting Bush, McCain, Palin ...... What I find particularly odd is that the Dems still can't pull ahead. I mean what does it say about the Democratic party if all they say is true. If complete incompetence is in control and they still can't win?

I think our own "Mr. Hill" can confirm that some industries will not allow this kind of bashing. lawyers, doctors etc. are not allowed to disparage others while endorsing themselves. Once again the United States is waging a campaign of the "The lesser of two evils". Not who is the best candidate but rather who do you dislike the least.

This has become a childish and embarrassing process to elect our most powerful official. It would be refreshing to hear why I should elect a candidate rather than being told why not to vote for a candidate

When all is said and done the two candidates may very well spend more than 1 billion dollars on insulting each other. What a wasted. This is change?

OK..... thats my rant.

Shame

Its all about money. Politics is bullish and in all honestly the president has very little to do with his/her own decisions. Kind of funny they spend a hell of a lot more money to become president than they make as the actual president.

They make less up front money as President, but every single one of them has benefitted immensely from the office, in book fees, speaking dates, and various entitlements - not to mention any industry connections that pay back indirectly for contracts thrown their way, etc. At least we don't have to watch the President make his speeches in an Under Armor shirt wearing Nike shoes.

Hmmm, that might be one way to balance the budget, though, force him to advertize on behalf of the government.

Do you think Pepsi would pay $400 million for an ad of the President trying to decide whether or not to push the 'red' button, then reclining back and popping open a Pepsi product? Hmmm.

Maybe we should start pasting decals on rockets as they shoot off into space?

That could be a SNL skit, actually. The President starts out a speech from behind his desk talking about the need for balancing the budget, then segways ( sp? ) into a yang enhancement spiel, followed by a Pepsi commercial, while removing his suit to display Under Armor acoutremont..... ;)

Real life, no legit company would feature a currently running or currently elected president in a commercial. Like i said its all about the money and companies would rather sell to both sides over one side. Now if it was a past president then it would not matter.

As for an SNL skit, that would be HILARIOUS!

Going back to the upfront pay for the president, yes they do make money off of all the stated reasons. IMO, being president is a job and you get paid. Getting paid is what these people want and i do not really think they would do it for charity or without pay. Ask them to run like that and see what they say. Benefits to them is the only reason they are there. Think about it, you become president and you and your family are set for life.

Some people just want to do something. Look at the Mayor (of NYC) Bloomberg. He only makes $1 year. Granted, he doesn't need the money, he's got more money than most will ever see in their lifetime...but he still decided to go out and become Mayor.

The sex tapes are usually saved for vote extortion. It's a gift that just keeps giving.

A loving bunch of coconuts!
