Usain Bolt: fastest man in the world!

And to think...that 9.69 could have easily been sub 9.6 seconds if he had ran the entire 100m instead of only 70M. I counted 8 strides where it appeared he started letting up and celebrating.

Unbelievable!

Checked on Bolt969.com to see if it was available. It was. I checked again 10 minutes later and she was gone as was: NineSixNine.com and many other variations.

He was quoted as saying that he wasn't at the Olympics to break a world record but rather he was there to win.

I hope he gets the chance to go faster. My only concern is that all the stars seem to have been inline for him at the Olympics: fast track, great weather, hardly any wind, 91000 fans, great competition, etc. He may never go faster. Time will tell.

When you run in big-time track meets, they often pay a large bonus to anyone who breaks a world record. Maybe that's why Bolt coasted in ... he wanted to leave the world record at a level where he could break it several more times, and get those paydays!

It's risky...but possible, I guess. He does have youth on his side.

Hopefully he doesn't get nailed for steroids like many 100 m champions of the past!

Yeah i remember watching ben johnson in 1988 run 9.7 something, hes was so muscular

but bolt's speed comes also from his height too and hes already has a proven history of world record type of speed while passing the roid tests

Great feat . The record was there for way too much time unbroken . Want to bet when this record will fall? . My guess is Bolt will break it within a year as he could have done it faster .

And now a WR in the 200m to go along with his 100m record.

19.30 (that's back to back 9.65 100m's). Just goes to show you that he is quite capable of going faster than 9.69.

He is the first person in Olympic history to win both the 100 and 200 in world record times.

Wow!

This is going to start a new fad of recruting tall sprinters, the idea used to be that you need to be around averge height so you can get alot of leg turnover. But bolt smash that idea
