I am still amazed at what is happening concerning numeric's domains.
Considering that 888828888.com sold for not less than 700$, I made some research and found out that most of them are gone already!
Domains like 555999666.com without 444 are all gone too.
But this pattern of 888???888.com still have some (148 names) available for reg fee
Its better to look in while it is still there.

Stay away from the #4. 4 is bad luck to the Chinese. 8 is good luck.
8 is by far their luckiest number. I believe their lucky numbers are 0, 6, 8, 9 - but especially the 8 of course. The Chinese won't go near the #4.

Not necessarily true. In some numerical combinations, "4" is actually very lucky, for example, 5211314 = "I love you forever."

And that pesky 4 is not stopping Chinese buyers from snapping up 888 with 4's, for example, 888444888 [dot] com and even 8884444888 [dot] com. (Just check Domaintools).

I took a chance and regged a few (a few with 4), such as 888484888 [dot] com -- just because of the pattern (also a palindrome -- don't know if this important or not to Chinese culture, but Westerners like them), which seems to be popular among Chinese registrants.

I'm not afraid to to take a chance on 9, 10, even 11 numbers (I have one 11 N), just as long as those beautiful 8's are present (88888488888).

The 9N's (with the 888) are pretty much tapped out.

A benefit to 10N's: they resemble 888 U.S. telephone numbers -- there may be a few left -- but I have some of the palindromes with the 888x88x888 pattern in the 10N's (for example, 8883883888 [dot] com).

As I see it: there is very little harm in hand regging a few of these and holding them to see how the market shakes out (though I'd avoid long nonsense strings of numbers).

It's a fairly small risk.

From what I've gathered, and noticed, it shouldn't start with a 0, or end with a 0 if you can help it, and stay away from the 4. China has dictated this game.

No need to stay away from "4" -- the Chinese are buying and registering longer domains with interesting patterns and meanings.

For example, "54" = "no death."

From my research, I have discovered that meanings are more nuanced in combinations, and even "8" can have a negative meaning when paired with "5," for example, "58" = no wealth.

While I do agree with many that 9N has a way to go (10^9= 1 Billion Combo); these Sequences/Patterns (less than 1000 possible combo) will be the cream of the crop if and when the market is ripe.

Well 5N has maxed it's permutations for registrations, so that's when '4' becomes acceptable.

The Chinese do stay away from 4's and they are of lesser value. I'm not saying that everything with a 4 in it is worthless, but when I am buying I would rather focus on acquiring the medium to top-tier buys before their value raises.

This just a guess, but I would say no. After researching this, it appears that 9n will be the cap, with some exceptions. And after that point, the value goes up and they become more and more collectible and valuable. I believe 9N is it. Just a guess.

A couple of things. You can buy the #4 all you want, but the reason why you will find domains available with the #4 is because it's common knowledge that the #4 is worse than unlucky, and means (symbolizes) death in the Asian culture. This is why they are missing the 4th floor in hotels in Asia, and some Asian countries have even banned the number from license plates. It's that bad. They don't use #4 on phone numbers, street names, social security cards, and the number is outright outlawed. A lot of times people can't even travel in groups of 4. The Chinese culture revolves around numbers, and 4 is as bad as it gets. Means death to them and their love ones.

Numbers are everything to the Chinese, and #8 means quite a bit. Not sure if anyone has noticed, but all one word domains are gone with 8's in front of them i.e. 8888home.com, 888car.com, 8888doctor.com, etc.... They're all gone.

So you guys can buy domains with the #4 all you want, but don't ever expect an Asian buyer, unless they're crazy and want to die, lol. That's literally what it means! Again, please read that link I posted.

Not all Chinese are probably superstitious with it. I'm sure some will buy them. There is just a clear pattern with good domains being available with 4's in them and being purposely avoided. I think we've all seen that. But again, China and Asia is a big area. And maybe if they want the domain bad enough they don't give into that superstition. There are some people here who feel weird buying 666, and there's people like me who have no prob with it. I don't think they're all against it. Might even be lucky for some people. Who knows. My personal lucky number is 4, and a series of 4's in all my passwords, etc...
