My domain portfolio has been over 300 domains and it's been 8 months since the last sale in 2018. I haven't received any offer or sales so far. I'm so discouraged right now. Can you guys please give me some advices?
Thank you.

Give up and work on your strengths.

Only the DomainElite can get good value for their: Time + Capital outlay.

Statistically, this elite can only be a small number of people based off the maths.

Hobbiests never count the hours they waste 'domaining' including bidding, reading, forum-ing on sites like Namepros, Pros like me do.

If you count all your hrs then, what's your hourly rate?

Eight months ago ,I had a few sales
So sad to hear you say that.
In my early days I made some sales due to luck, so I bought more domains but they weren't so great. Making a few sales is a good sign but it's the long-term trend that tells if you're on the right track :xf.wink:

Why would I drop it? Eight months ago, I sold a few pieces.
so I think my portfolio is good
Maybe you sold those names simply because that were better than the rest. Not all domains have the same odds of selling.

But if you have 300 names and assuming they are .com at $8/yr each you are looking at a yearly renewal expense of 2.5K. So you need to make that much in sales every year before you even turn a profit. It's easier said than done.

The top ten names you listed are bad. Random domains with no meaning. If they are representative of the portfolio, then I think you should drop a lot, then you'll have disposable income that you can use to buy quality domains. Buy fewer but better domains.

How about my avatar ?
it is a prey species plant with the scientific name Nepenthes
I'm pretty sure you don't know it, so you're curious.
Ah yes, the rare and exotic netherpenis. Wonderful plants. We have a botany enthusiast on our hands!

In theory, you might have had couple of good names in your pickup of 300 that priced at xxx might have sold quickly, while giving you perception that you have good portfolio.

I agree that your top 10 is not flattering of the remainder.

pow9.com
zsdrj.com
nhaco.co
simhn.co
tolhy.com
njstx.com
dmnfs.com

I'd suggest you keep tolhy.com, and probably leave the rest of them.

Here's the simplest advice I can give. Only buy expired domains for awhile. If you are about to buy a domain, look around online to see if any other business exists with that particular name or has existed with that same name.

If there are over 7 billion people in the world and there is no proof that multiple people have tried to run a business using that name or are currently using the same business name, that is a bad sign. Because even when you have a domain that matches the exact business name of active and past businesses, it still has a low probability of selling. So, why would you want to put yourself in an even worse position and buy a domain based on a term that no one in the world has ever pursued commercially?

For example, I bought ASliceAbove//com last year. It was previously used for a cake company, and there are 2 other Pizza Businesses with the same name. As an experiment, I tried outbound for this domain at $450 because I thought it was a guaranteed sale. But, the owners were perfectly happy with their ASliceAboveOtherWord//com domain. No interest in switching their name, or even pointing the name to their existing site and both of these business actually take orders online.

Spend time going through all your names and performing the same type of lookups to see if that name is actively used for any businesses. Only count businesses that are actually making money, or look like they are spending money on their brand. I did this for my names, and in the last 40 days alone I saved $483.55 in renewals, then I put most of it towards 1 of 2 payments for a $600 brandable 4 letter domain.

Are you committed to marketing your portfolio?

If yes, what are your marketing strategies?

I'm in a similar situation as the OP accept the fact I've never sold a domain. It's been 1 year today that I started buying domains ( yes a lot of crap. But reading and learning a lot through namepros). I've never sold a domain, never had an offer, never had an enquiry, never had spam. It's like they are invisible. Got them on Sedo, afternic and undeveloped. DNS pointing to undeveloped.

Ok I just went through all the domains you listed on undeveloped, and most are in .xyz extension the ones in .com are mixed with numbers and letters, now do you see part of it is your fault, the only name that got me attracted was moouv.com in the sense that it is brandable,
Now what you should take your time and seive the bad names from the good ones , list the brandeb one amongst them on brandpa, brandbucket or squaldhelp
Then let the bad ones expire don't waste money again on them,
If you have a good name and it does not sell fast, don't panic is matter of time, so try what I said and let's see if you get an offer

See the good ones I noted and the are brandable

Ok, is better now
Add cosmetictipz.com to my good list,
Try listing some on brandpa and the others on brandbucket....
Then to recover back some money, you can auction some names,
Am quite sure you spent money on those name ,so I think you need money back, therefore I will advice you to auction out some name, you might get a fair bid on one or two, then pause buying and concentrate on the best ones you have, probably the one I listed concentrate on them, don't buy till you have sold like two, if not you might get discouraged...
But if you see a good name LLL, LLLL, or strong word keywords all in .com
Then please you can buy, these names have no choice but to get so much offer
Thanks

There must be something there that's worth something.

I've been doing this for less than a year and had several sales. Before you buy another name, listen to every single DomainSherpa portfolio review from the beginning. You will learn far more than reading Namepros (because there's so much crap to sift through here and conflicting opinions and bad advice)

I can tell you already that you're wasting money on being too clever with the "z" (instead of s) and "a" (instead of -er) and other misspellings (shac instead of shack).

Don't wait for them to come to you, do more outbounds, publish on more platforms, make a landing page with your portfolio, promote your domains on facebook groups.

The only way to succeed in this business is push push push.
