Hello all,

For several months, I have been recording 6N sales from Asian auctions. I now have enough data (thousands of sales) to offer some perspective on the 6N market and general trends. Because the market is so liquid (and large), I have segmented the data into specific "pattern" types which have a large enough sample size to be meaningful.

Please note that there are other threads for showcasing your domains and discussing 6N in general terms. In this thread, I will highlight and discuss only 6N.coms sold at auction (live bids and confirmed buyers) on Asian platforms. I will use this thread to focus on specific pattern sales with short commentary. Hopefully, this will help buyers and sellers in pricing and bidding.

Please note:

1. I have not captured every sale, but am confident I have recorded "most".

2. I make no warranty as to the accuracy of the final sales price as I am relying on the auction sites and the sales reporting site Chaomi.

3. There is a lot of data and almost impossible to capture all. For perspective, the pattern I will analyze today has almost 80 recorded sales in the last 7 days. How many of this pattern were published on Namebio in the last 7 days? The answer is 0. Feel free to add sales that I may have missed or from lesser known auction sites.

4. Sales are in Chinese yuan (CNY)- Conversion guide (changes daily, so not precise):

2000 CNY- $304

Comment: 13 sales, average: 2631 CNY ($400) Low 2400 High 3300 (8 end). The number 9 is always strong and this data confirms.

Summary: Remember, this is one week. There are hundreds of data points for each triple over the last few months. This pattern bottomed in early-mid December at 1400-1600 CNY on low end. The last two weeks show increasing price.

I will analyze the next pattern in a day or two.

I think last times for these good prices. After 1-2 months prices will increase. We were same status about prices "last year this times"

Its not a seasonal drop recently, its a trend going down. Im very bullish, but we must be rational. To say we have a rise, we must see new highs! we see a drop of 200CNY then a rise of 100 and get happy with it!
The rise must get chips floor back to 1300CNY at least to say we have something SOLID!
Prices kept at 1300CNY for a long time, like 6 weeks, which means it wasnt a top!
Lets wait and see, its a good day I admit, but sustainability of the uprise is what we look for!

However, some chinese investors have been up buying 6n's at 1 A.M., 2 A.M. etc. - 5 A.M, check chaomi to see what I mean. I doubt they are doing that for any reason other than trying to buy up in bulk because demand is increasing now. They did the same thing yesterday as well BTW.

Also, if you look at the prices at Chaomi, the problem with it is that its affected mainly by the average and not quality at all! 482229.com for example is totally different than 004924.com I can pay 50-60 for the first one but nothing for the latter! Chaomi treats them both equally i guess?

Patterns will hold, coz no matter how much is supplied today it wont sustain, and once the supply is reduced by 20-30%, the prices will go up 40-60%! Coz more and investors believe in a trend once it starts picking up!

Still have 170 6Ns.. paid a lot on these, especially the patterns.. do I regret it? NO, but am I afraid they wont pick up? YES, but thats risk! and without Risk there isnt any gain at all!

We will make money on this, but we need patience and we dont need people who are desperate to liquidate! I think these guys are fading over time with the recent mass supply in the auctions! Look at Expireddomains.net on a daily basis! once these amounts of 6Ns drop, we are set to go and enjoy the cash!

For the psychic pain I endured on 6Ns, I promised myself a new nice watch from the profits!

Do you think names that contain 0 are worth holding? i have some that end in 00, i'm guessing they'd have a stronger value? I have a portfolio at 6ndomains.com.

6n price is correlated with 5n price. Look at 90 day chart of 5n without 0/4 at Chaomi. Average 6n will not suddenly de-link from 5n and go up while 5n goes down. Patterns are different and, overall, are doing well in both 5n and 6n.

A few days ago, 5n domain 95958 sold for 116,000 CNY ($17,905) Investors are paying up for attractive patterns.

If one is totally honest, the market has crashed hard with no sign of recovery as of yet.
Yes some names are selling very well, but overall the market is in a mess frankly.

I now feel that some of the godaddy sales reported are likely bogus a lot of the time for the simple reason they are so far above other marketplaces they seem odd. As they are all expiring auctions it's easy for the winning bidder to not pay up for them. I may be wrong with my thoughts at this time but this is where I stand.

There we have it, 922213.com (interior triple) going for $240, names like 828813.com and 893885.com going for under $200 and 888332.com going for $1610 which is simply terrible + it was on hotpicks for a long time so got huge exposure. The only decent sale yesterday was 272288.com for $1100, all the rest performed really badly.

A huge sale.

Even during this "downmarket" the premiums are still doing extremely well.
The market has been flooded with low quality names dragging the overall floor down.

That will change soon when the better names start getting sold more often and the floor will move up fairly sharply I reckon.

The above triple interior threes you are quoting are in CNY (Chinese yuan). Floor price at that time was about 2000 CNY ($300). There are many sales in the last few weeks in this same area (some above, some below).

Looking at one bulk auction and one pattern from Namejet and extrapolating to the entire 6n market will not be very accurate. However, I do think the average domain in 4L, 5N and 6N all have more downside to come.
