Hello all,

For several months, I have been recording 6N sales from Asian auctions. I now have enough data (thousands of sales) to offer some perspective on the 6N market and general trends. Because the market is so liquid (and large), I have segmented the data into specific "pattern" types which have a large enough sample size to be meaningful.

Please note that there are other threads for showcasing your domains and discussing 6N in general terms. In this thread, I will highlight and discuss only 6N.coms sold at auction (live bids and confirmed buyers) on Asian platforms. I will use this thread to focus on specific pattern sales with short commentary. Hopefully, this will help buyers and sellers in pricing and bidding.

Please note:

1. I have not captured every sale, but am confident I have recorded "most".

2. I make no warranty as to the accuracy of the final sales price as I am relying on the auction sites and the sales reporting site Chaomi.

3. There is a lot of data and almost impossible to capture all. For perspective, the pattern I will analyze today has almost 80 recorded sales in the last 7 days. How many of this pattern were published on Namebio in the last 7 days? The answer is 0. Feel free to add sales that I may have missed or from lesser known auction sites.

4. Sales are in Chinese yuan (CNY)- Conversion guide (changes daily, so not precise):

Comment: 13 sales, average: 2631 CNY ($400) Low 2400 High 3300 (8 end). The number 9 is always strong and this data confirms.

Summary: Remember, this is one week. There are hundreds of data points for each triple over the last few months. This pattern bottomed in early-mid December at 1400-1600 CNY on low end. The last two weeks show increasing price.

I will analyze the next pattern in a day or two.

No not mine. A lot of you are saying it's a safe bet, so I'm just saying if you really believe that the values will rise like that then why not put your money where your mouth is?

I've put my money where my mouth is for many months now and spent serious 5 figures and counting. I have also not looked to sell a single one of my premium 6n's despite a lot of demand, which tells you where I think they are heading.

I've been probably one of the biggest western buyers of premium 6n.coms since October time and have bought well over 100 now. I've bought names like 299928.com, 399936.com, 828787.com, 226388.com and many others.

I have also bought names with 0/4 in them which have good patterns like 000313.com, 177780.com, 258810.com, 288003.com etc. These have also been rising in demand for some time now.

If I was to liquidate today my ROI would be good and that's putting it mildly but I hate bragging, so i'll leave it at i'm very pleased with my investment to date.

The difference is i'm bullish on premium 6n.coms with/without 0/4 in them.
Will buy more if the right opportunities present themselves to me in the coming days and weeks ahead.

However, i'm not really interested in average 6n's with 0/4 in them as they simply won't rise as fast as the premiums over time IMO, so no i'm not interested in many of the names you've linked to at namejet. This has nothing to do with how bullish I am on 6n.coms within my strategy of buying.

I think premium 6n's will present one of the best ROI's out there in the coming months.
Time will tell of course, but thus far I couldn't be happier. Even the relentless spam i'm getting lately is pleasing in a way to see the demand growing.

I've been probably one of the biggest western buyers of premium 6n.coms since October time and have bought well over 100 now.

Maximize your profit, you can get $200 per name (any name) that is 6N in a matter of months.

Nonetheless I tend to agree with that comment as well in that it is a definite possibility the floor will edge towards $200 each even for the worst of names over the coming months (not that bullish on that but it could happen), but for me personally I pass buying due to the post above.

Similar boat for me (albeit a different strategy for me of going more for premium in quality rather then quantity) although i've just been buying within reason as much as I can lay my hands on for months lol. I have had a ton of interest in recent days and weeks in particular and won't even entertain a single offer on any of my premiums. That's how bullish I am long term.

As mentioned above I have 100+ premium patterns and plan on acquiring more as a cherry on the cake over the coming days and weeks if possible, but happy as things are either way.

N.B. The floor is up around 20% for average 6n without 0/4 in recent days, they are flying.
I thought we would need to wait till after Chinese new year for the next wave up. Not so it's happening right now.

I'm sure you bought those a while back for reg fee. My comment was just meant to say if you truly believe you can get more than $200 in a few months then you should be happy to buy those for $69... not the best ROI, but not bad.

Not many higher end domains offered in today's trading. However, the average sale stays above 1200 yuan on strong volume.

I am noticing more flipping. For example, 293883 was bought for 2900 yesterday on ename and sold for 3300 today with increased bids. Prior to that, it was bought on 4.cn for about 1400 yuan a few days ago!

Due to rarity and price, these sales are infrequent and unpredictable. The players at this level can take bidding wars to high numbers. Trying to calculate an "average" price is hard because of low sales volume and auction volatility.

The spam i'm getting today from China is nuts, i've never seen anything like this even when the floor for average 6n's was around 1800 RMB in October.

They seem to be going through my premium 6n's one by one and emailing me from different email addresses asking me to sell for x price.

I guess it's a very good sign but i'm being spammed to pieces right now.

The floor is moving up very fast for average 6n's without 0/4 in them yet again.

Now it's around 1350 RMB. At this rate old highs of c 1800 RMB could be retested very soon and maybe even before things slow down for Chinese New Year.

I've never quite figured out if the relentless spam we get is because these guys are the ones pushing prices up, or if they just know the demand/prices are moving up so they try and buy as many on the cheap as possible, or indeed a bit of both?

The spam has been in a different league to anything i've seen before in this space it's been insane, I guess long may it continue lol, in a funny kind of way.

The most notable statistic of the Chinese 6N market is the recent spike in volume. In the last 3 days, there have been around 1350 transactions of the "no 0,4" variety and over 1000 with 0,4. Average domain without 0,4 is now 1350 CNY ($205).

The "bottom" end is still trading at the 90-100 CNY level. The spread between the lowest-priced domains and the "pattern" sales as outlined in this thread continues to widen. Until domains like 841848.com, with three 8s, two "84" patterns, sell for more than 340 CNY ($52) as it did today, one must conclude that 4s are still being heavily penalised. Substitute 4 with 5 and its a $200+ domain. There could be an opportunity here for the risk-taker: there is a heavy supply of this type of domain in the $30-50 range but tread carefully.

Heavy supply sounds like bulk and meaning buyers have moved on. Maybe come back after interest wanes.
These trend surges over the last year remind me of the locust gregarious phase ( When environmental conditions produce many green plants and promote breeding, locusts can congregate into thick, mobile, ravenous swarms.)

Trading is wrapping up for January, which ended with significant appreciation for "no 0,4" 6N domains. Sales average has risen to 1400 CNY+ on increased volume and higher quality inventory, especially in the "second tier" premium patterns as outlined in this thread. I started this thread on 1/20/16. At that time, the average 6n domain was $167 (converted from CNY). Now it is, conservatively, $258. Of course, the five pattern sales outlined in this thread are selling for significantly more.

The market is getting very close to its high in November, '15 and certain patterns are making new highs (particularly double pairs). In addition, the rise in 6n is starting to trickle down to good 7n patterns, which are getting more bids.

The market may pause here but 6n seem to have a good floor and good patterns have shown no significant drop throughout the last 7 months. In fact, it would not surprise me to see better number combinations as outlined in this thread approach $xxxx in the next year.

I know I said this before, and for anybody who missed it, IMO 6n.com is the best investment I have ever done and I been buying and selling domains since 1998. There is still a huge opportunity in buying these, especially now since many of the biggest buyers (The Chinese) are on vacation during Chinese New Year. Chips are great, but good patterns are just as good such as, "54", "48", "84", all great as well not just about numbers but patterns. Good luck everybody!
