One of Australia’s big 4 banks has found out the hard way that it’s a good idea for a large company to obtain its top level domain. Not just the country code Top Level Domain that the company operates in.

Very few people type .com.uk - most companies/domains are .co.uk (there are others like .me.uk .org.uk and .net.uk but .co.uk is dominant). Nominet who run .co.uk opened up the second level [anything.uk] a little while ago but they didn't allow com.uk to be registered.

Australia's largest bank, the Commonwealth Bank who operates on CBA.com.au, does not own the .COM either? The .COM was acquired some time back by Mike Robertson (http://dnpostnews.com/cba-com-sold-for-46000-2/). The Commonwealth Bank, commonly known as 'CBA', also operates on CommBank.com.au. They do own CommBank.com and it redirects to the .com.au

It'd be very wise to acquire CBA.com, especially after the NAB's unfortunate error recently.
