$6.95 GoDaddy renewal coupon (Get ready for the price hike on October 15th)

as many of you know , wholesale .com prices are expected to be increased from $6.00 to $6.42 (and .net prices from $3.50 to $3.85) by VeriSign on October 15th (press release) ... most registrars are expected to pass this raise directly to the customers or even a larger one because of rounding , marketing , higher transactions costs (eg. credit card processing) , etc ...


therefore if you have available funds and have some domains that that you gonna renew for sure , it is probably a good idea to renew them before the 18th ... or even for multiple years so as to benefit from the current price (or possible future Verisign hikes)

cdboard - I think many companies will go for the $0.50 or ~$0.50 raise ... $0.42 from VeriSign + a little more for the higher transaction costs ... eg. higher amounts charged will need higher credit card processing costs (which I think are currently something like 2-4%) ... plus a little more for rounding or marketing (so that the new price appears appealing , fair , cheap , etc to customers)

htmlindex - I think they will ... either raise it by the exact amount (saying that they just adjusted the price according to the VeriSign raise) ... raise it by $0.50 (to accomodate for cc and other costs) ... raise it to $9.49 ($0.54) which is a fairly nice looking price in the $8.95 + ~$0.42 range ... or set some other price that they will consider as appropriate (covering the hike without a price raise , while raising just the discounted prices , I think is a rather low-probability scenario)

actually , I got the coupon in the 3rd (!!!) email after expiration of some domains ... I was randomly getting GDBBREN8 and another one something like gdd776? ... the GDBBREN8 is giving solid $6.95s (+$0.20) when used ... I think the gdd776? was not working properly ...





I got two new ones ...

gd50bbpd5 ... again gives $6.95s but it is a newer code so it might work even for longer than the others ...

gdm0906h ... is for $6.99 (+$0.20) .com , .net , .org , .biz .name , .us regs and rens (expires 20/09/07) ... I thought it might be useful for .orgs (regs or rens)





remember all these coupons work for multiple years on the discounted price and as it seems after the 15th of October the prices won't be as low again ... plus there might be another hike after a year or so ... according to the VeriSign contract with ICANN , VeriSign can raise the prices for up to 7% per year for the 4 out of the 6 years of the contract (this hike is the first hike in the first year of the contract) ... also it can raise it in the other 2 years also , if there are security or stability expenditures ...

but I think this is the raises in general ... coupon , executive and discountclub prices might be affected slightly differently (or not lol) ... but they did mention that GoDaddy does not try to profit from the hikes ...
