IMO 5L.coms are already starting to heat up and as soon as all of the LLLL.coms are reg's the 5L.com market will really start to move.

If you can afford to hold them for a couple years then TRULEY pronouncable, quality letter, 5L.coms are going to be highly sought.. IMO

What do you think about them?

Yes there are more 5L.coms then 4L's or 3L's but if you only are looking for quality combinations of quality letters then that does dwindle the numbers down a bit.

There are:
17,576 3L.coms
456,976 4L.coms
11,881,376 5L.coms

OK, so yeah, there are alot more 5L.coms than the others. But like I said try to look at only the 5L.coms with quality combination or letters.

One example would be: CVCVC.coms (C=Consonant, V=Vowel)
Assuming that, X, Y, Z, Q, J, K, H, U, W are NOT premium letters (debatable).

There are only 122,825 premium letter, CVCVC.coms

and

Only 36,125 premium letter VCVCV.coms

Basically you have to find the niche within the niche :)

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong,
GG

II don't buy many as most of my domain money goes into renewal fees of domains I bought in previous years
.

Gotte love renewals :$: , I've went from over 500 names down to just over 100 and now back to around 400. I know this is little compared to many but it keeps me very busy.

They pay for themselves and I really like domaining so it all seems to work out.

i agree that they will increase in value, but from many i've seen (not just in this thread) there's definitely a fine line between being brandale/pronouncable and not.

Totally agree.
The same can be said for some of these LLLL.com names you see advertised as "pronounceable". Memorable and brandable are pretty interpretive terms... but I always thought something was either pronounceable or not. :)

question about Talaj: I often see word ends with j, what language that can
end in "j"?

I'm not surprised at all. These names are short, easily pronounced and extremly catchy and easy to brand. Think of how many company and product names there are in the world that are only 5 letters. Or how about all of the personal names and geo. locations.. I alone have 4 immediate family members with 5 letter words for the first name.. :)

The five letter word, if you look hard enough, is EVERYWHERE.. , kinda like the number 23 ahah ahahah aha

Which brings me to question if anyone knows of a resource that states how many words there are in the english languge for each amount of letters?

Just how many 5 letter words/names are there?

Good idea -- if I were to do it, it would be a showcase for brandable names though, not necessarily five-letter domains.

I believe if we're going in the direction we're going (collecting 5-letter names simply because they're 5 letters), we're going to turn into another LLLL disaster, registering names like "QMRKP" just because they're five letters.

I think 5L are a good investment for part of a portfolio. They have to be pronouncable and easy to spell/remember. There is value in short domains like this, new companies and products always looking for names. Also more chance of type in's with short domains like this.

I agee. I should be exactly like the DYYO search database. That works perfectly and you can find whatever combo's you are searching for.

Just make sure the site also talks about how 5L.coms such as QXISA and DFAIH will probably not be worth much for many, many years..

I found CHOCY.com and SLEDY.com available today.

CHOCY.com I registered.

SLEDY.com I considered registering but didn't.

I consider CHOCY.com in the top 5 hand registered names that I got in the past 3 years.

I agree, names that are short, catchy, easy to spell/remember and mean nothing may very well be what companies are looking for...so the company will simply look for a name that is equally cool and equally meaningless....but for reg fee.

For every cool sounding 5 letter name, there are millions more cool sounding 5 letter names and 10's of million cool sounding 6 letter names.....and all these names still mean nothing without site development, so unless a companies entire future is based on the 5 letter name that they want, companies will look elsewhere instead of paying big bucks for a name without any meaning..... :imho:
