Maybe they restricted PayPal for some countries, will ask them regarding this.. Thanks @aelko

I received a response from them:

Hello,

Thank you so much for contacting DreamHost support. I will be happy to
assist. In this case to pay for an actual service you are unable to do it
via paypal. You can check more info out on how our payment methods work
here:

https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/215202687-Payment-methods

However the workaround you can do is add a positive balance to your
account with paypal and then process the payment of what you want to pay
for. Keep in mind if you have any pending balance the amount you add to
the account will go towards the payment of the due balance.

The way to do this is by going here:
https://panel.dreamhost.com/?tree=billing.payment

click add money to your account.

and process the amount with paypal there.
If you need more info on this as well you can check this article out:
https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/215202667-Making-a-payment

If you need any further assistance please don't hesitate in responding,
or opening a new case. Have a wonderful day!

Thanks again @aelko They answered my ticket with the same solution and it works.
However last year I bought a domain using PayPal without having to fill in the balance, not sure why but they don't specifically answer this.

4 USD cheaper than Epik and similar companies. Worth trying.
Also need cheap transfers.
What price can registrars give for , say, 1000 .com transfer?
Also are there bulk buyers who can pay 5 percent of Godaddy appraisal,
if so, maybe I can sell all and quit.
(sorry for hijacking the thread a little bit)

This morning I waited (my timezone) on answer about the url-forwarding and it was changed also. I was p**d off.
If they claimed somewhere that it would be the whole september, they have to endure this till end september (5.99); (in an email I got earlier it had to do with Labor Day vacation; something from the US I presume (?)).

Have anybody seen till when it was earlier on (till end september) ??

Of course asking to prolong the promotion still a little time stays free : submit a ticket or send an email.
Anybody ?

It's useful to note that DreamHost (being a hosting company) permits only one such discounted .com purchase, i.e. there's no option to add more than one domain to cart, according to my check now.
(presumably, users could technically create multiple accounts, if they're looking to save a few bucks)

Be careful while buying any domains with DreamHost, you never know when they will start billing you for unwanted and unopted hosting, kindly check attachment.

I have been registering domains with them for over a month now but today they have started charging for unwanted hosting.

I have asked for a refund, lets see how they respond.

Will keep the thread updated.

Also, in my DreamHost account it clearly shows "No active plans on this account".

So clearly no hosting was ever added and opted for.

Due to their $4.99 throwback pricing sale, I've been registering names with them.

Positives:
1- Clean dashboard.
2- Low price.

Negatives:
1- DreamHost is not a Sedo MLS or Afternic Fast Transfer partner.
2- Domain registrations are not immediate. They are "pending" for some minutes. Eventually an email arrives stating you own the name. Their website says to wait up to 15 minutes. I've gotten every name I bought, but the delay is concerning.
--> DH CS response claimed this is "quite normal. This is a common occurrence not only with us but with most domain registrars." Of course this is untrue, i do not have to wait more than seconds with other popular registrars. DH is the slowest to confirm of any registrar I work with.
3- Cannot preset WHOIS data to be different than billing info, so I must retype it every time.
--> DH CS response "choose the WHOIS privacy option". I guess what they're trying to say here is I shouldn't care that my billing address is supplied if I choose privacy, since no one can see it. But that answer is not acceptable. I do not want my billing address as my WHOIS address. Allow us to store a WhoIs address that differs from billing - is what should be done.
4- Email for [email protected], which is provided to use after registration, bounces. Concerning.
--> DH CS response "Could you please let us know where you've seen the billing@ email address displayed? ". Another concerning response. The billing email is supplied in every single billing email they send after domain registration. It's in the header and footer. The fact that they are unaware of its usage and the fact it bounces is quite concerning. (see photo)

5- Names are set to auto renew 31 days in advance of expiry and you cannot change this setting. You must manually deselect after registering.
6- Cannot pre-register on their website before buying your first name. You buy your first name and join/register all at once. After this, you can buy and manage your profile in your accout. Annoying - they should allow pre-registration.

Concerns:
1- Will transfers out be smooth?
2- Will they bill for unwanted services as some posters above claimed occurs?

Been with DH more than 2 decades. Great host that I still use. Never had billing issues.
There was no trouble transferring out domains.
