As a big pc gamer, I would say no, just like TV's.

I guess some people will make money and some will lose same as every other hype.

I'm not buying into the hype.

Besides only 1% of 3D domain names are valuable the rest aren't worth much IMO.

You are about 2-3 months too late, I started thinking about buying 3d domains a couple of months back and missed it just before the mad rush, not much point in randomly guessing which crap at the bottom of the barrel might be shaken loose to rise as scum would to the top.

I hereby petition NP to create a 3D domains sub-forum! Not that it would be of any legit use, but it would be funny and at the very least take some of the trolling heat off of the .tv and .mobi areas.

Oh, and by the way, if something is going to be standard on PCs you don't necessarily need the feature in PC domains or you end up with USBpc.com, CDROMpc.com and EarphoneJackPC.com.

There is really no such thing as a 3DPC anyway since we are just talking about adding a 3D capable monitor to any PC that isn't ancient.

3dpc is a niche. 3d is the market. so nothing to boom about. soon they'll have 3dhumans. but just in case, 3dPcStore.com is not open yet.

3dcameras.com is 7 years old :)

It was very similar to that...I check hundreds or thousands of domains everyday when I am doing it...I sometimes forget the little details, and who said I simply hand-reg them? ;)

I said "something like 3dcameras lol"

Tell that to :

Asus / Nvidea
Toshiba
NEC
MSI

I can see the point you are making with regard to high domain name values, but the above companies are manufacturing 3D PCs as we speak and will market them as such. So my thoughts are that related domain names will have some value due to people searching for their next PC, which will more than likely be a 3D PC. No-one with any sense buys a new machine which is behind with regards to technology.
Just my opinion and I only have about a dozen names related to 3D, so my
small investment would not be catestrophic should I be wrong.

I don't doubt that they will offer a monitor (in this case a 3D monitor) with the computer like they have always done, and the bundle will be billed as 3D in some way (though not necessarily as a 3DPC).

But this doesn't change the fact that the monitor is the only thing that really matters.

From the article :-

"So what makes a 3D PC? A 3D PC must have, by definition, the following minimum requirements:

โ€ขA pair of 3D active-shutter glasses.

โ€ขA 120Hz 3D-capable display which can be a desktop LCD monitor, a 3D projector, a 3D TV, or a laptop with an integrated 3D-capable LCD.

โ€ขA discrete GPU such as the latest GeForce GPUโ€™s from NVIDIA that are designed to deliver HD content to a 3D display.

The idea behind having a 3D PC category is to make it easier for consumers who are looking at purchasing a new PC to get a PC that is capable of delivering the 3D experience for the right budget. For example, several OEMs will be featuring a โ€œ3D PCโ€ category on their websites. For folks wanting to upgrade an existing PC to get the 3D experience โ€“ retailers will be featuring 3D PC branded components to easily identify what they need to do their upgrade."

The problem I could see as far as 3D domain sales goes is, large retailers such as Pc World already have their domain names and can simply list the products on their existing sites. But what about smaller retailers, surely they will be looking at these product related 3D domains to give them an advantage ?

Did you read any of the above articles? It's already dubbed "3D PC"

Those are tech articles. The actual consumer marketing may or may not use the term 3DPC. Apple, for instance, surely will not use it. Out of HP, Dell, Acer, Sony, Compaq, etc... we could see all, one or none of them using it.

Just something to keep in mind for those of you putting everything into this particular term.

Well time will tell. And it won't be a long wait neither. 3D PCs are coming and staying for a while.

I like how so many of you pump 3D technology on domainer forum, believing that someone here is going to get hyped up and buy the domains in your sigs.

Does this business model actually work?
