I received a private offer for $2000 for ink<> refill.com . Should I make a counter offer, or should I accept?
It appears it's from a domainer
Thanks in advance.

If that is one word with no hyphen, I would counter.

if it is ink+refill.com, then 2k could be a fair price. It is not a mass-scale business for any individual company from the trade to invest in.

The other way could be to develop it yourself. Kind of yellow pages database of all ink-refill companies for any location. Monetisation could be through ads + premium listings.

Private offer is a lot less binding than let's say an offer on Sedo.
The name is good and first offer of $2k is also good, it depend son weather you want to risk it or not. No risk is accepting it, risk is replying with "I had planned to sell it for $3500"...
Personally I would accept the $2000 offer, after offering the name to several potential endusers and if nobody of them would be interested.

Hmmm, valuate.com says it's worth $60,000. Even if we take 30% of that (required by bargaindomains.com in order to list your name), you still have $18,000. Now you did not go out and offer this name to the public, so you have the right to price it whatever you like if someone comes.

2k is not a bargain, it's a giveaway...

unless you urgently need cash, don't give it at such a low price. one-word dictionary product-related .com's are hard to come by, if not, rare, nowadays...

If I were you I would list it on bargaindomains.com for, say, $9,000...that's only 15% of the appraisal. Buyer saves 85% as BD puts it. Just don't forget my commission afterwards. lol. :p

Here is the link.

but if you want real money, list it on sedo or afternic.

But wait a minute -- is it refill.com or inkrefill.com? the latter is worth $120,000! :)

- Regged since 1998
- About 10K Exact Searches on Google
- Taken in every major extension and 200+ domains
- $2.29 - $3.21 CPC

$2K is an insult for a commercially viable domain like this. There are plenty of end users who would want this domain. Personally I would be asking low $XX,XXX if I owned this and would hold out for an offer near there.

Some related sales -

InkRefills.com - $9100 - Feb 2005 - SnapNames
PrinterInkRefill.com - $5100 - Dec 2006 - SnapNames
InkReplacement.com - $4500 - Nov 2005 - Afternic
InkCartridges.net - $4060 - Apr 2008 - TRAFFIC
Refill.org - $1601 - June 2008 - SnapNames
PrinterInkRefills.com - $1600 - March 2009 - Afternic

Thanks all.
it's inkrefill.com. It makes a little but I haven't figured out a good monetization method.
i think i might hold out.

i think minimum of $8k... unless you really need the money... that is a different story.

Prime domain for those ink refill kits or possibly a company that makes or sells ink refill stations.

$2,000 seems like a sell-to-a-domainer-with-no-effort-involved sale for this domain.

Look at the threads here about "selling o end users" or "marketing to end users". If you have the time to invest, using the methods described there might be worth your while & get you a higher price.

Brad

I always find it interesting what people paying big bucks for a domain name do with them afterwards, I guess everyone wants to recover their investement at the very least.

It seems like someone paid +$9000 for a domain name in 2005, and five years later the domain is still parked. I don't understand those business models.

Inkrefills > Parked
PrinterInkRefill.com > Parked
InkReplacement.com > Developed
InkCartridges.net > Not loading
Refill.org > Parked
PrinterInkRefills.com > Parked

i think the buyer would expect you to counter offer , so give it your best , if not happy dont accept
