2005 was blogs, podcasts, etc.

Hey guys,

I never really did understand why all of the sudden 'blogs' and 'podcasts' (and a couple other age-old things) spiked their popularity in 2005. I mean, blogs have been around for years and years; and 'podcast' is just new word for an old thing.

Is there anything that you guys think will get very very popular in 2006?

I still think it's silly that things like blogs and podcasts got so overwelmingly popular (which was evident in the domain market). I just can't wait to see what 2006 will bring.

Any ideas? Please discuss your thoughts.

i think videocasts will start to be really popular. And maybe streaming data like videos and news. Dont know but cant wait

I think that that almost forgotten Usenet will get popularity again. It will play a sort of blog community, file share, etc. with an option for many internet providers and digital TV companies to start broadcasting Usenet as a stream in read-only way while users will add articles to usenet with their blogs and special services. Also blogcasting may take place.

I agree video will be much bigger in 2006.
Blogs will evolve further and be more interactive.
Chat software will catch up and interactive chat rooms will become more popular.

Voip is going take great heights. Now after Google ,Yahoo, ebay(skype) all major getting into this. i guess VOIP is going to Rock 2006

I think new namespace will get very trendy in 2006, the new zonal tld .EU and impending launch of .XXX should get a lot of domain name visibility.

.ASIA is also slated to wedge-in come 2006. And IDNs will be supported by IE for the first time.

Internet addressing is undergoing a rapid revolution in the likes never seen before.

Vlog

I think vlog (video blog) domains will become popular. There seems to be a lot of websites devoted to them now.
