Hi,
please help me to henestly apprise this domain:

1.nf

It:
- is a real 1-character, very rare and hard to get
flipped some of them fast

- is a "1", most easy to remember, prestige

- .nf is Norfolk Island - teritory of Australia,
political stability and high quality infrastructure
since hosted in New Zealand

- is really a No.One. If you own this domain you
would not change it for any letter, even an "a"

- allows crazy e-mail addresses like [email protected] or [email protected]

I sold an other "1" I had for some 800$ but the investor invested some 1200 more for this to keep it. But I have the feeling it could be worth even much more than 2000$. What do you say? Hope to find some experts who can give me a good apprisial.

Well, I think these are novelty items, especially in exotic TLDs. They are fun to have, but hard to sell. Nice to have is relative, because the renewal fees are rather expensive.

dnsaleprice has a number of 1-character domain sales but I found only one .nf:
I.nf $650 Dec 10 Sedo

dnsaleprice is an interresting site - thanks for mentioning. Well, but I think this domain must have some value. I analyzed it - it seems max. there are about 60 TLDs allowing 1-char domains theoretically. But some like 1.us blocked or 1.org are purpose restricted and so on.

At the end there stay maybe 40 such "1" domains theoretically available. But as told investors or companies bought them out investing f.e. 2000$. They will keep the domains for the next 20 y. looking for a big deal. Some left free to buy include 1.tc (3000 GBP/year reg fee) or 1.ws (50000$/year).

I suppose the number of sellers for "cheap" "1"-domains might be counted on one hand. So whats the right value to ask?

I look at these type single character obscure TLD domains as collector pieces.

They are like that one item on the shelf in your home that you take down once a year to dust off.

Just like anything else on that shelf, these domains always seem to hold more personal value then actual dollar amounts.

Im sure you could get your reg-fee back or maybe a little more to the right buyer.

But selling these type names for a good profit goes along with the old saying "finding the needle in the haystack".

Completly wrong. I sold all 1-char domains so far with a nice $$$ profit, not waiting to much. Investors put about 2000$ to keep such domains for 20 years. You have no key about this it seems. And why do you call Norfolk Island's extension obscure? Its an island belonging to Australia.

Go on the street in any city on earth. Ask 10 people if they have ever heard of the extention ".nf" . All people will say "NO" what the hell is that. "oh that is Norfolk Island"- person:"Where is that? Never heard of it" - This is why you could such an extention obscure.
You have no key about this it seems
Be thankful people are giving you an opinion about your domains. They are taking time out of their day to comment on your appraisal question. You asked for opinions and you got some.

Yes but...
Population

Wikipedia.

That's it, there is no local market.
And .nf cannot be branded like .tv .co or .me. It is not suitable for hacks either. So it can only be the TLD for Norfolk Island.

We have single letter domains in .pe or .cr and haven't got a single offer yet. I'm not sure there is so much demand for these names. You need to find a domain collector. I bet almost none of the domains sold are developed into meaningful websites :guilty:

Well, my website is probably worlds place nr 1 or 2 for 1 or 2 letter domains - this astonished me today as I searched with Google. If somebody will look for them sooner or later he will get there.
What are your 1-char domains? You can PM me too with the domains if you prefer not to write here.

It is not suitable for hacks either. So it can only be the TLD for Norfolk Island.

Generally yes, but please remember - I bought this .nf domain as an end-user, not a doaminer. And it was the most expensive domain I bought until then. So not only Norfolk folks.

You bought as an end user yet you have it up for sale here?
Odd....

Not a site, blah blah blah.

You bought really as a reseller....

I bought it for a project (http://1-single-letter-domains.com/9.nf/Qr-1/index.html). The description explains quite easy why a 1-char makes so much difference for QR technology.

Now I do not need this damain any more. I like it but decided - if the price is good, I sell. Thats it.

OP you have got to realize this its in a extension that most don't even know exists and the renewal rate is ridiculous. This is going to hurt the price a lot. If it was something that could be transferred to a GD account and renewed at $10-$20 a year then things would be different. On top of that you are not helping matters by the sale thread listing you have open with what seems like quite a few bumps/ups posts.

If I take a look around - all 1 chars seem sold. You can get e.mu at 14950$. Its a co ol domain (like e-music) but has also a big big price.

So it seems value has gone up last year. In 1.nf I invested 400$. What price should I ask?

You can get a million bucks in your own mind my friend I don't see the point in asking people for opinions and then telling everyone they are wrong. .NF is not a great extension in fact this thread is the first time I have even heard of it. But you are obviously the authority on such domains so good luck and I truly hope you get what you are wanting.

Well, I have a little insight into this domains since I dealt some, thats why I can not stand stil if people say its worthless because of the TLD. It's also nothing wrong with telling people some facts. A 1-char always has some $$$ value, even a 0 (zero) one.
I hoped someone here who is really expert could tell me what price would be the right one. I sold my last "1" for 800$ and now I understand this was very cheap. So I would like to know how much. And if the price currently is not rising (see e.mu - I sold an "e" for some 600$ some months ago, now it seems 14500$). The development is clear - there are some 1000-2000 of this domains in the world. Some bought by big companies, other by big investors. The "free float" is shrinking and shrinking, soon there will be none. Now if companies realize the technological advantages they will look for one, bo no such there. This usually leads to rising prices.
