I've never used Network Solutions, but this may be the right time to start: they're currently offering $1.95 new registrations and transfers of .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, .info and .name domains with coupon code NS195FBOOK. Any warnings for first time NetSol customers?

How many can you register or transfer at this price?

This is almost exactly like the ongoing $ 1.99 transfer promo by registrar Yahoo/Melbourne IT. You can transfer as many domains as you want (one at a time), for just 1.99.

Yes, I hear the "i won't even go near Yahoo evenif they pay me 100 dollars" warning. But I transferred 20 domains with them already. No issues showed up. Was able to transfer out the first 2 domains with no problems either. Unlike Netsol, the Auth Code is already visible in the Domain Control Panel on your Yahoo account all the time.

The only catch is you have to remember to cancel your Auto-Renew after you transfer out. They will bill you 34 dollars evenif your domains are not with them anymore. I guess Yahoo makes money from forgetful people.

Thanks for your reply, but you know, I prefer receiving some insight from members who already experienced the situation rather than a FAQ page, which sometimes may not disclose all needed details.

I have. What jim posted is correct, and I never had to call netsol to get the auth code when I transferred my last domain out over three or so years ago.

Apparently that process with them hasn't changed.

The only thing that makes me nervous is what happens if you can't transfer out your domains after the first year. Do you have to renew at their current renewal rates?

Unfortunately yes. So make sure to transfer before the domain expires, preferably a month ahead to give you time.

And perhaps you can use these 1.99 promos to just extend the life of your domain for a whole year. As soon as your 60 days mandatory stay is finished, transfer the domain out again to another registrar you are more comfortable with. That way, you have an entire 10 months lead time to resolve any transfer issues that may arise (just in case).

Oh, what the heck...I took advantage of this. I figured I might as well try netsol again, just to see if at least they've changed their interface and what-not.

Got charged only $1.95 and transfer just completed. Too bad couldn't do more years, but it's fine with me.

I tried using the code, but no luck. Tried on a transfer and on a new registration.

no i think it was because the phone# was incorrect. But i have no idea really. I might add that i didn't like what i saw anyways, lots of spammy stuff, extra fees for privacy and forwarding. Reminds me of 1and1.

The link actually still works, though don't know for how much longer if you want to try:

http://www.networksolutions.com/dom...3C576S627N0B142A1D0E0000V100&promo=NS195FBOOK

If you're transferring, use the link above then click Transfer. The price will still show.

Have to say I'm rather somewhat (well somewhat, anyway) impressed with netsol's account manager/control panel thingie. Biggest question then is their support, though they did reply to my ticket five hours after I opened one.

Ya, this has been working great for me. If it's not working for you guys try deleting your cookies and try again via the link.

As for the $30 registration for 1 year... not sure where people are getting that from. I'm seeing that as their normal registration for 2 years.

You couldn't pay me enough to buy or transfer to NetSol.

They are terrible in my books.
