I was just alerted on social media that the domain name world.market apparently recently sold for $35,000 on the Namecheap platform. It was apparently sold through Seattle based premium.domains. I am presuming that this is a registry sale, but do not know that for sure.
Sales on Namecheap are not normally listed on NameBio, and the sale is not on NameBio at time of writing. If the sale were put in the NameBio database it would become the third highest sale in a new extension domain name in 2020.
If we compare it to other .market extension sales in the past, it would tie for fifth place with a number of other names. Art.market and job.market lead the list at $50,000 each.
The end user for world.market currently has it redirected to his profile on the gaming site Steam, and it will become an independent site in due time. No further details are available at this time.
An exciting day for new extension domain sale announcements. As well as the $200,000 shop.app sale, NameBio also on the same day had the $2182 sale of learning.center at Dynadot, a significant sale of a nice name that was overshadowed by the huge shop.app sale.
On NameBio, which may represent 10 to 20% of sales given the venues that report, so far in 2020 there have been 183 new extension sales accounting for just over $750,000. The average sales price is just over $4000. Here is the full list of NameBio-listed new extension domain sales in the first three months of 2020.
If I obtain further information, I will post it here in the comments. If readers know more about the sale, please share the information in the comments.
