Then explain to me the reason that America had such a good standard of living when all the factories where still working in the US? I will be happier to pay 2 or 3x more for a well built product built in my country (like before) than buying a cheap Chinese product that breaks down in no time at all.
Besides, all the production we bring back means a lot more people employed, instead of seeing factories closing down and moving to China. They then copy everything, without any need to spend money on R&D. All they need to do is copy (without respecting patents) produce and sell at a cheaper price.
But don't forget one thing... the Chinese are very smart... when they first started producing crap for export their prices were about 1/4 of normal European or American production costs, then they starting rising slowly to 1/3, then 1/2 and presently closer to 2/3 of the price Europe or America can manufacture that product.
As their standard of living rises so does the price of manufacturing and yet the greedy European and especially American multinationals and big companies are just too blinded by big profits and in the meantime the European and American consumers have been brainwashed into saving a few pennies on Chinese crap, most of which they hardly use anyway or it breaks down after a short while, but end up paying fortunes on credit card loans, student loans, car and other insurances, etc. etc.
You bet I want to see factories back even if I have to pay more. I still have a Philips TV, built in Holland, that's 35 years old... and still working, an electric fan built in Portugal 55 years ago... still working... an electric toaster built in Portugal 40 years ago... still working on a daily basis and a 55 year old Radio &record player console (made in Italy) similar to the one on the picture below, that is still working with only one problem... the needle for the record player is a bit damaged and I can no longer find one to substitute it.
I also have a Philips fridge and a Philips dishwater still being used and in perfect working condition... both are 30 years old... with no signs of breaking down yet!
It's really easy to see how much cheaper it turned out buying these products that are still working after all these years, in comparison to anything I get today which are mostly built in China.
Bring back the f*cking factories as soon as possible.... let the Chinese build their crap and it to Africa and other parts of Asia
