Introducing Withheld for Privacy
Customer privacy and security have always been at the core of Namecheap's values, which is why we provide free lifetime privacy protection for every eligible domain registration or transfer.
This service keeps your contact data hidden from the public Whois database, preventing inbox spam, and keeping you protected from fraud and identity theft.
After careful consideration, we have decided to switch privacy protection service providers from WhoisGuard to Withheld for Privacy.
Don’t worry, your domains will not be impacted, and you will not need to take any action.
From March 17th, 2021, any domains covered by WhoisGuard will be protected by Withheld for Privacy.
How this affects you
Everything will be switched over automatically, so you don’t need to do anything. You will mostly remain unaffected by the change, and your contact details will remain hidden from the public Whois database. This service will continue to be free of charge, for life.
In your account and order summaries, any mentions of ‘WhoisGuard’ will be replaced with ‘Domain Privacy’, and the privacy service contact details assigned to your domain name by the new provider will be automatically rotated.
Your contact data will stay safely with Namecheap, as Withheld for Privacy does not require any personal data.
You can read more about our decision to switch in our blog post.
