It's about the power of the portfolio and the law of averages.
When you own hundreds of thousands of domains, you are going to make more (incl. high-dollar) sales.
The 1% of brands he does sell each year (his average seems to be around $400K sales/month) need to cover the 99% that do not. The vast majority of his sales are in the $2K-$5K - and, yes, his model is profitable.
