It is mega indeed. While investing mega in meta domains myself, my hope is that fellow meta domain investors will not run into mega trouble because meta might be considered confusingly similar to mega by some.
Guessing this was a dig at me for mentioning “mega hype”?
Just a reality check, all these sales likely have nothing to do with the metaverse or crypto:
MetaPayments crazy 9 day sale - MetaPay.com (another “Meta”TM, "what is Meta?")
MetaFinance - metafinance.io?
Metadeal - real estate?
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/metadeal-real-estate-analyzer/id1506517876
Metabox - Metabo (power tools)
Metacareers - maybe nothing to do with the metaverse based on research but…
Metaevents - e.g. metaevents.co.uk has nothing to do with...
Can’t explain the MetaFB.com sale - still can’t imagine this has anything to do with the metaverse (unless Facebook?)…
MetaXR.com basically another “Meta” brand like Meta.TLD
In the ‘XR’ space, meta+XR makes sense. Great sale, perfect end user, big congrats.
MetaAvatars.net highly likely the .com owner that is [over] excited about a project, where they wont even really need it, we’ll see…
Meta+keyword of course already in use before the metaverse craze.
“Metaverse” keyword sales not so much? 3 in the past month, none in the past 10 days?
Domainers going crazy buying up everything. Likely many of the reported sales & relisted for 10,000 x the price.
End users involved with the metaverse know it’s going to be based around the decentralised web (dWeb, web 3.0), where .com / the specific .TLD is far less valuable. It’s already happening…
Everyone is going a bit over the top IMO. For one thing there are going to be a huge number of solely “Meta”TM brands out there. Will be interesting to see how this works in reality…
Metaverse.one relisted for sale. Metaverse.io for sale.
https://sedo.com/search/?keyword=metaverse.io
With web 3.0 / dWeb & everyone in crypto with .eth, .crypto, .x, .xyz, .finance, .io, etc. the future for domains is uncertain. Unsure what the naming system will be like, probably everything.everything
When the metaverse is actually a reality, why does anyone need to be called Meta+ or Metaverse+? What’s wrong with World, Space, Realm, VR, XR, City, Scape, Rooms, One Word, brandable, etc. in .everythingTLD under the sun(?) - i.e. it’s extreme hype now, but when it’s actually here?…
JUST MY OPINIONs. I’m not saying I am 100% right, just that really can’t see how can anyone say there isn’t extreme hype going on. In reality, other than great sales (no doubt about that), things are uncertain.
