The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
There is Internet Explorer still and there is also MS Edge. I mean, IE is not Edge.

If you are talking about whether MS Edge works, it does since I use it on a daily basis.

Maybe you tried to run IE instead of Edge?

no, it is definitely microsoft edge that is screwy. Someone needs to read their research they pull off of our computers anyway.

Much better off with Firefox anyway I'd say. But Edge worked fine for me.

Never had any similar behaviour from Edge so I can't even assume what might be wrong.

However, since you already use dos commands,
usually, before I run sfc, I try to restore the 'health' of the system with the following command:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
You probably know how to use it but, in case you don't, here is a nice guide for you:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

I would suggest to try and reset to defaults but, from what I understand, you can't even keep it open to do that, right?

Have you tried deleting Edge and re-installing it?

With Edge, I have problems when signing up with some sites. It does not send confirmation emails after fully registering.

Yes that didnt work. Ty.

That would suggest there is something left over from the uninstall? Yes/No? I don't know if a reboot before a re-install would help.

When I have problems like these I usually go to https://tenforums.com The people there really Windows experts. I have never failed to get a solution to these kind of difficult problems. They are very good.

Do you have any third party tools like ccleaner or other ones, like IOBit, which can check the integrity of your system and clean up your registry? Before reinstalling Edge.

Too many good browsers out there.
Solution:
Don't use IE or Edge. Something is on the Edge mean it will fall down anytime.

This first one sounds pretty much exactly like what you are describing.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/tr...-flashes-and-closes-immediately-when-starting

This second one is more of a general search for similar problems, you might find a clue within them.
https://www.google.com/search?q=program+opens+then+shuts+down+immediately

When all else fails and I can't find a fix to a problem, I've frequently had good luck running the windows repair tool found at Tweaking.com. I prefer to use their portable FREE version. Be sure to run it in Safemode and review all the options as some you may not want to be "fixed" - things such as if you use a custom Host file, or if you don't want to delete what you have in your Recycle Bin.

And last thing, depending on which repairs/options you choose to run, it can take quite a LONG time for the repairs to run, so don't run it if you are in any hurry to get back online.

Ps. If all else fails, Johnn is on the money with his suggestion!
