Matchroom.com -> MatchroomSport.com -> Matchroom.live

Bare with me on this.

I just went from my office to spend a few minutes with 'The Boss' (She who must be obeyed) and snooker was on the television. A boring match was taking place, then suddenly I spotted the sponsors ad in the background, 'Maychroom.live', it was the first .live domain I have actually seen in use.

So returned to the office and checked out 'Matchroom.com', it redirects to 'MatchroomSport.com' and on that site they announce they have just launched a week ago 'Matchroom.live' (and it is a live website).

So a .com redirects to a longer .com which then advertises the launch of a .live.

Just an intriguing set up to come across and I thought I would with everyone.

Matchroom.com is not loading for me, but I assume from your post and a Whois search that they own Matchroom.com.

This is the type of experimentations you can go when you own your exact match dotcom. Your brand is effectively bigger than the domain extension at that point, at which point you can push subbrands and new concepts knowing that you hold the dotcom fallback.

In Matchroom's case, I think they may be dipping their feet into a streaming service with their content library now that Dazn are in big problems, and are questionable to maintain their huge contracts (one of which with Matchroom). Matchroom certainly have the budget and the resonance in the UK market to condition their audience to a dotlive.

As I say Matchroom.com redirects to MatchroomSport.com for me. I am in the UK use Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge, perhaps the redirection depends on one of these factors. (?)
