A lot of domain investors also invest in crypto currency it seems as of late. I usually feel pretty confident that a domain I carefully acquire today will be a 10x+ my investment including holding time. If say, I were to buy bitcoin today, is it feasible that i would get 10x my money?

well, anything could happen. The younger me from two years ago :tightlyclosedeyes: would say: "BTC IS DA FUTURE! IT CAN'T DIE! IT WILL GO TO 1 BILLION$! WOAJ!"

but now that I've experienced the crash, and I've seen so many scams... and well, I've become wiser a lil'.

I'd say that conservatively, there are no other payment systems like bitcoin, including crypto. Other mainstream payment alternatives and other cryptocurrencies tried to replace, disrupt bitcoin... but all bitcoin did was grow stronger by incorporating their tech.

Bitcoin has not once failed or been hacked since its inception. But... I fear that nothing is infallible. I feel like, the longer bitcoin goes without any bugs... the harder the potential risk when a bug or hack happens. Of course, bitcoin will recover... but once that fallacy happens, then you can't really recover fully from that. The distrust will be sown in, just like our distrust for PayPal and fiat and Escrow.com.

But, the more I had thought about it, the more I realized that bitcoin is a legit big thing -- because it's a new, completely different payment system taht's accessible to ANYONE with internet. No sign ups, IDs required... It's literally like cash, but faster and insanely accessible.

But, yes.. all it takes is one error to take it down for good.

Hmm, I don't think I've thought of myself as 'far younger' (you referred to the "younger me") just because of the passage of two years. Besides the point, but even if I didn't age much, if at all (I really haven't aged much on the outside if at all my entire adult life), still, two years is not very long at all, unless you're something like 16? and now you're 18? even then.

Just thought it was a funny cool comment. "The younger me from two years ago." :xf.laugh:

Breaking news: Binance, a Malta-registered Bitcoin & crypto asset exchange that is one of the most well-respected in the market, has just revealed that it has been slammed by a “large scale security breach”. The platform reports a loss of 7,000 BTC, valued at $42 million at current values.

lol a 40mil lesson binance guy said.. lol
thats expensive lesson mister.

and whoi is this asian guy wanting to pay the 7k btc? i mean he's obviously somehow connected to binance.. without really saying it

so if binance is full of breaches and this could have easily been 50k btc theft... then I guess its binance bye bye...

but people never learn and laways keep crypto on exchages

Now, regulation will kick in, in full force. And kickstart the death of the beautiful crypto

To me, exchange wallet like Mycelium is the best and safest place to keep bitcoin. Just make sure your machine is clean and secured with the best of antivirus

@alcy The connection is support for the crypto community. Many platforms and crypto gurus came to support CZ which is great to see honestly. People panicked and their could have been a selloff but because of the crypto community that tension was eased.

From what I've gathered from my discord trading group, the hackers hacked the API / 2fa keys that were stored in some other server? So they didn't attack the wallets or binance... they just hacked the users' stored 2nd securities.

Then, they only targeted large whales who don't have limits on withdrawals... so they just mass-withdrew all at once.

but i also think there were some internal measures that stopped some withdrawals.

well his 7k btc "donation" will probably repay him and his tron 50 times over.. if it helps keep people on binance.. and restore faith and truth etc..

so instead of donation.. we should probably call it.. investment. :)

CZ in the most humble manner rejected justin's offer and thanked everyone who joined to support binance. No one lost a satoshi and all funds will be covered by SAFU fund. The outpouring of the crypto community made a difference.
IMO

wow.. 6.1k

this means when we agreed to my domain sale for 1300$ paid in btc few months back... which meant 0.3btc back then...

by current rate, it means I sold this domain for like 2k.

thats the only btc I own and ever owned too.

who said getting paid for domains in btc can't be fun! hahha

of course it will feel much less fun when btc will be 2k in few months.

maybe I should just cash out now and move on..hmmmmm

I believe in crypto, and as many probably want something else to be a standard to PayPal. I don’t think you are going to get the follow up buying as we saw 2 years ago, many of those people are still licking their wounds, and others don’t really even understood what they weee buying, and what purpose it held. For many buyers in North America, European, and other established regions it’s not essential, but places where you have unstable government, inflation, etc... it is everyday viable. Things seemed to be good update until everyone started using the word “regulation”, and after that the rest is history. Some security concerns, but if we can have 1 or 2 standards, and get off the dependency of PayPal which currently is over regulating, and over reaching. I did a $50 domain but with someone who lived in Russia, and they flagged that as unusual,!-and wanted a follow up essay to what all that was about. Even on namepros 95 percent of people only accept paypal, and these are outside the box thinkers, how are you going to change the rest of the world, if you can’t even get crypto as a second standard here.

No one can be paid reliably in crypto or use crypto for the simple fact that crypto has such a high volatility

It's not about access. It's not about thinking outside the box...

It's about the fact that you want to get $200 now for a domain you just sold, and not $195 after the 3 confirmations pass and the price went down.

The best is US tether, which is not a crypto per se, but is relatively not volatile.

If someone could just create a coin that didn't have price fluctuations, watch that get adopted so fast. But since thars impossible, then it's impossible. The only way for it to be possible is to openly declare that this coin will only be worth $0,3 each forever. But obviously doing so won't work because people will find a way to sell it on an exchange for higher or lower.

Well the more people who hold it the more stable it will get, a majority of people have no use for it, because fiat currency works just as good for them right in most countries. For a domainer namepros, renewing domains, buying things online, it has a purpose, but for a random guy in new york to buy a cup of coffee, they don't really need to pay in bitcoin.

I guess I would moreso like to see a different norm to paypal, as they are becoming very restrictive.

BTC moving back up nicely lately.

I still accept BTC payments from clients regularly, I don't worry about what the current price is. HODL it all, since 2011.

btc made a super run since 2011 for sure.

but it does not mean it'll just keep going up.

you said you hodl all but maybe you already cashed in some profits just in case.

what if you start seeing it go to what it was in 2011. you will be very unhappy.
