Anybody else noticed a new design for godaddy.com? On my country targeted domain it's still the old design but godaddy.com seems to have a brand new design. I'm a bit hesitant to sign in as the new look doesn't resemble GD at all.

I haven't noticed any changes, and I just looked, if that is a help.

Do a screen grab and dump it here.

Freaking weird... it just reverted back after I logged in through the dutch site. It was legit as after clicking the login button it directed me to nl.godaddy.com. Logged in to transfer some domains.

The logo was all black, header fonts were in some serif font. The footer looked kinda alike but didn't feature the final white bar. Loads of pictures on the main page, and I recall some bearded guy :).

Unfortunately I was using a vpn connection so cannot open any cached files.

Anything is better than the current site which still looks like it's stuck in the nineties somewhere.

The transition from green to blue for most of the buttons has been welcomed. The atrocious logo removal was a wise choice but they still need a fresh modern touch.

So it doesn't show up like this for you? The other day I got the old design. Same for their Geo domain. @Joe Styler maybe you know what's up? I'm hesitant to log in, call me paranoid. Certificate seems to check out though and can't detect anything weird in the code.

That looks like our site to me. We are always testing new things. The SSL looks correct as well. When you click to do anything sensitive, e.g. buy something or login etc the SSL cert should turn green and become an extended validation certificate on our site.

Joe, with all due respect to GD design team, stability is something many customers (including myself) are looking for. In all aspects. Including how the website looks and feels. This is not to say that, as a domainer, I actually check anything outside my account area or bulk transfer-in link. Whether the 1st page shows an actor playing happy guy who just registered his first domain, or not, is practically irrelevant for professional needs. But, in any case, the changes are always noted and they are not always practical or pleasant. In current design, for example, I had to click 4 times just to find bulk transfer-in form. It is not convinient. I personally think that an old design of 2008-2010 was much more easy to use, and Danica made it even more pleasant ;)

Why wouldn't the team concentrate on more relevant changes? I, for example, reported the following bug, (a few times) to my account manager: any and all South American countries (Spanish speaking, different currencies, sometimes also USD like in Panama) are now forwarded to _mexican_ website mx.godaddy.com with prices in mexican pesos (if the visitor types just godaddy dot com). It should be pure U.S. website (Spanish version) with USD instead. Which was always the case, but a few years ago somebody changed the way it works. And nobody fixed this. The whole continent is misleaded, and GD is happy to see this, inventing just ... one... more... design?

I can answer that one for you....

I also prefer USD and I simply change from Canada to US in the language setting in the upper left godaddy link.

Now when I use the Beta Version it also shows appraised value. This only shows for me when I pick United States English and not when I pick Canada English.

So yours is a pretty easy fix, the only thing is every so often you have to go in and redo that as the cookies expire.

Yes, we the domainers can set the country and currency as needed. But it is an extra step. What about enduser from affected area, who might wish just to purchase the afternic bin domain or premium listing domain, but has difficulties understanding the price (as it initially says Mexico and Mexican Pesos for all South American countries for example). Or US English vs. CA English vs. CA French for Canada (where the buyers preferences are not so obvious, so the server should probably check 1st preferred browser language... @MapleDots : do you see this happening?)

Hey Tony

I don't have any issues, I seem to remember a setting somewhere where I set it to always bill me in Canadian funds and it does, but whenever I do anything else it shows me USD because I have it set like that.

So for me it seems to function as I need.

Ah, cheers for that. I'm usually working on quite a secure system but it got me thinking somewhere my connection was compromised :)

Anyway, I like this look as it seems it's putting focus on end-users which is quite important imo.

As a domainer, not the biggest fan but I'll adapt for the greater good ;). I can imagine you're a busy guy so thanks for taking the time to let me know!

That sounds like a personal setting to me. We remember the choice you made and serve you that website with the currency option based on your account history. If you were coming from a fresh browser you should be routed to another country depending on where you are visiting from. You can change your preferences in the top left side of our page and it should remember your preference from then on. You can pick other Spanish speaking countries like Spain, Peru, Chile, Venezuela etc and get their Spanish. I speak Spanish decently and know that each country has their own version of Spanish we accommodate a lot more than Mexico.

I'd say that for domain registration purposes, U.S./Spanish website is generally OK for all South America. A European Spanish version would not be that good. But it is not an issue I am speaking about.

I am speaking about the currency. OK, Peruvian visitors will see the prices in Peruvian Soles. Fine.

Now, lets take the following three countries: Panama, Salvador, Ecuador. They are all using USD as official currency. The question: WHY GoDaddy prefers to show them mexican pesos and mexican website mx.godaddy.com on their iniital visit?

Also, there are no separate verions for Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia - they have own currencies, but they also see mexican pesos and a big header "GoDaddy Mexico". Wouldn't USD pricing together with U.S./Spanish website be more natural?

P.S. For the sake of completeness, by South America I mean all South American countries except Brasil of course, as they speak their own version of Portugues in Brasil, and except English-speaking Guyana. And I did not have an opportunity to check GD website from either Brasil or Guyana...

Only works for a while, I have to go in every two the three days to select US again. This happens on 3 different computers.

Unfortunate part is that on my domain control panel there is no link to change this setting. You have to go back to the main godaddy page, change the setting and then go back to the control panel.

It would be nice to have that setting in the control panel for quick access.

That is not something I can really help you with. I deal in domains.
There are lots of countries we do not have local sites for but we do have them for many of the World's languages. Many countries have their own currencies, we don't always use them. As you pointed out we do not have separate pricing in every currency in the World. This never was our goal.
There are lots of factors to consider which luckily do not fall on my plate. We have separate teams of people that make those decisions, some in country and some at the home office that work together for the best experience for local customers. There are a great deal of considerations when deciding on Internationalization.
There is a lot to consider when running a Global company and these decisions are made by many teams working in concert. There are also local, International, and US laws which may or may not come into play in your question, I am not sure. We have legal and compliance teams that look into those things. My point is there is a lot to consider and I am sure it wasn't done without intention by the various team's responsible for it.
If you want to follow up on why we choose or do not choose to use certain currencies or languages on the site you can contact our company via the links at the bottom of the home page.

It probably has to do with your browser. If we cannot tell it is you we will not be able to show you the right settings. If cookies are blocked or removed for instance that could play a part.

Hope there will be updates to the backend. Still have to use the back button after making DNS edits when wanting to edit the same domain again or have to go back to My Domains and select the domain again. Or is there an easier way that I'm missing. Feels a little counterintuitive.
