discuss Why Dot-Best new tld may in fact be one of the "best"

There seems to not be a lot of good potential keywords in front of .best These are my thoughts on that subject.

I believe one of the main perceived and quite possibly valid benefits of dot-best is keyword(s) do not necessarily need to be in front of "best" but can work without the best word in the name by being instead in the extension and which can replace the 'best' word by only being in the URL with extension.

For example, BestDomainName.com can be replaced with DomainName.Best and the search engines may rank it well or possibly even the same ranking, assuming the name is listed in the search index. A good example of that is as Cyril said 'Madeira Best' search results being the same or similar to 'Best Madeira' etc.

So the idea is BestKeyword.com or whatever can be replaced with Keyword.Best URL resulting in a shorter URL with search engines potentially giving value to the term by also using the reverse word order in the search index results. So in that random example the extension replaces a need to put the Best word in front of the dot.

I know it all sounds confusing but I have reasons to suspect this is actually correct and may be valid thinking and in fact I now personally like dot-best a lot and believe it's an excellent new extension, probably the "best" overall potential of any of the new tlds and certainly a good buy with the $1.98 promo, IMO.

Agree on that but I was dealing with the well known decades long bank PRESIDENT and the decision maker who was a cheap insulting and unfriendly idiot and also did not think his $800,000,000 asset banks name was worth more than peanuts and knew nothing about domains. He could have got his name for less than the salary of 1 bank teller.

It's getting difficult to find good relevant dot-best names. Not long ago someone said they figured .best was not good based on so many good words being unreg'd however now the opposite seems more valid as most all the good ones I try to reg are now gone :(

Are they still on their .bank, or did they eventually switch to a different .com?

I think the story is an interesting one, and thank you for relating it.

Re all good .best getting gone, I agree there are less than when I first looked a month ago, but still some nice ones - I would say more than most out extensions with a general purpose TLD. Thanks for your comments, @namemarket !

It seems surprising how active. Was it just this one .best, or did your other best, if you have a number parked at same site, also do well?

Any thoughts on why/

In case you have not seen it the domain investor who was the purchaser of the premium name bank.best has been identified and speaks in this YouTube video. He is looking to sell it for $1 million +. He has about 1000 domains (decade+ investor apparently) and about 100 best. He does not disclose the price he paid for bank except saying it was "too much". The interview is in French but with English subtitles.

@Bob Hawkes

that's a pure .best promotional video

Re door(.)best @shabash786 can you explain what you mean? Do you simply mean someone registered it? Or someone resold it? It is now listed for sale on Dynadot, and DT gives the creation date as today. Thanks.

Yes I for sure did recognize that .best circulated it from their YouTube channel and from logo I assumed they shot it. It is still interesting to know a bit about a buyer of a high premium name, although without knowing the price there is still only limited value in the content. I understand that the buyer is from France where both a real estate and domain investor, but it is a common name. Does anyone know him as a domain investor?

I meant this is interesting. door.best sold or registered as premium domain. similarly currency.best.

Sounds interesting!
Many business owners already use .Best premium domain names for their websites and their online marketing like
  • amazon.best
  • bmw.best
  • rolls-royce.best
  • telegram.best
  • mgm.best
  • womens.best
  • hyperloop.best

Can you provide some examples of Amazon, BMW, RR, or MGM using their .best names for online marketing? I'd be very curious to see that.

well i'm just contributing the info about .best and I found it interesting so posted here. I'll search more examples of the above and post here as soon as found any.

With the URL bmw.best it indicates to me BMW is making a statement BMW is the BEST car. It now is a redirect but I am guessing BMW may make it stand-alone in the future.

As mentioned before I feel dot-best has an opportunity to be considered as good as or even replace dot-com in some ways or specific niches. In fact I reg'd a few .best even though .com was unregistered because it seemed better or more natural vs .com

If it's true, then it would be interesting for sure. No offense intended, but I think it's important to do some due diligence before re-posting vague claims like this.

I'm sure these companies did indeed buy their matching .best names... but as another member mentioned, it was likely for brand protection, and the domain probably just redirects to their main site. I'd be very surprised to see Amazon running promotions with their .best TLD.

Have you done any research to support this position? How many gTLD extensions does BMW actually own? If they own a lot, and don't use them for anything but a redirect, what information have you gathered that leads you to believe they would do anything different with their .best name?

No research done. I am basing it entirely on how perfect .BEST can describe how a BMW is the BEST car and far better than any other extension they own for implying the car is best.

the best car wouldn't need that
as everybody would know already

Actually it implies that they sell the best BMW. If they want to market themselves as being makers of the best car, shouldn't they own Car.best? ;)

Anyway, I get what you're saying... Your opinion is just that: a purely subjective viewpoint with no factual evidence. But of course you're entitled to it! I just think it's nice that we clarify these things for newer domainers who may get caught up in the hype being created by a few members on here.

That’s a laugh.

Sorry but - People may convince themselves of amazingly far out notions - doesn’t make it so.

Dot club didn’t take over for every “club” oriented online business did it? .top never made it to the “top.” etc. etc.
