Not so much the badges, but the color of our user names. I had never noticed they were different colors until this morning. Maybe I have the flu?

I don't think its the flu, what you are saying is correct

Gold member usernames <a> have <span class="style18"> hence the gold color, style18 is not applied to other member types like NP supporter

Thought you were talking about the badges, same applies though e.g. gold member badges <em> have class bannerOrange, while NP support badges <em> have class bannerSilver

Thanks to everyone who helped contribute to this thread.

Most of it has been covered by members in this discussion, but here's one more tidbit:

• The topmost badge decides the username's color.

That means that if you have a Business Account and a PRO badge, the PRO badge will appear above the Business Account and your username will be a darker blue/black which is associated with the PRO badge, rather than the expected gold for being a Business Account.

When I got VIP badge... thought someone did a psychological profile on me,and came to the conclusion that I was a Very Immature Person then I did some research and found out that it really means..
"Very Important Person
VIP
Important and prominent members of the community"

And was relieved was just about to have a hissy fit...
