A lot of domain investors also invest in crypto currency it seems as of late. I usually feel pretty confident that a domain I carefully acquire today will be a 10x+ my investment including holding time. If say, I were to buy bitcoin today, is it feasible that i would get 10x my money?

LTC is where you wanted to invest in a few days ago.

*WARNING*
For those with Coinbase accounts, you might want to check your charges. Their computers went crazy and started double charging thousands of accounts.

well yes but you know... there is nothing preventing ltc going back to where it was few days ago again.. I guess that's the great (and ugly) thing about cryptos.. depending on what you bought when :)

Profit taking is healthy, I think LTC is a decent coin with plausible immediate uses, if it can find function, it should move up in the ranks.

What’s surprising and good news is that it’s possible to buy that much without bumping the price. Which implies that may sell that much without tanking the price.

They took it to about $10,400, but on a percentage basis it’s still less than 1 percent, but at least we saw what a billion dollars can do in play.

There is obviously selling going on now, $10k is a good standing point, there are so many instruments probably shorting bitcoin at this point, I would love to see a short squeeze, and one of those big gain days again.

Still receiving (and holding - not spending, no intention to spend), BTC and litecoin payments almost every day lately from clients. The prices at time of transmission vary greatly, but I never turn down anyone who wishes to pay me in crypto! Bring 'em!

Update: As of now, I have lost a bunch with crypto and I'm doing fine with domains.

For me, I still feel better making 10x money with domain names versus crypto.

Just thought I would mention it. :)

I have a gut feeling that a lot of money might be headed back into the Domain Name Market!

Watching the sales reports daily, I think I am noticing an uptick in sales of domains of interest to chinese investors. We'll see.

Did you compare that with the number of domain drops?

domain drops are for newer crap domains
hes one of the lucky ones who regged a bit ahead of others.. which really wasn't that long ago.

And yet the newer / hand regs are the ones carrying the market.

what carries the market is the better and good stuff.. buyers aren't stupid...
they will not pay good money for cryptopotato.com...

and domainers aren't stupid either... and they will not be dropping the better and good stuff.

the point I was making is that for every solid domain there are 10 bad ones. therefore you will always see stuff dropping. and plenty of it. which says nothing about domainers holding on to their decent stuff like its made of gold. ;)

but you are right in the sense that it still the newish regs that carry market.. cause as I said, you do not need to go that far back in years to have regged some good stuff.. but that's not the stuff that's dropping in big numbers :) that stuff is even more recent.. minus few lucky exceptions we need not worry about ;)

cheers

Using your own word ....."STUPID" is what keeps these registers in business and at the end of the day that's all that matters.
Same as crypto, if you buy high and sell low as we both know "that person" who did only raised the trade volume but lowered the purse.
Yet the exchange won.

As a rule of thumb, domainers are stupid (with respects to domaining) until proven otherwise.

$10, access to internet and a desire to make money. That is the barrier to entry.

I've made tons of dumb decisions along the way too.

true.. but... experience and knowledge are everything... in domaining and other things in life.. so as long as there will be new inexperienced domainers.. there will be low quality registrations.. therefore drops.. and therefore like you say registrars being happy and just getting richer.

hopefully in time, most of these new domainers will learn.

but the learning curve is there for everyone. and in most cases it comes at a cost.

"HOPE" never paid any of my bills and I can assure you it will never pay any of yours either.

You're a optimist...Bravo to you!
I'm a realist and depend on hard work.
