It happens man. Though, it is easy to see the value in that domain. Try harder to advertise similar names next time. (y)

Solid sales there Ali. I would up a little your retail prices. When end buyers are scooping up those types of specific brands, the average budget is, 90% of the time, $1.5K-$3K.

If I remember from another thread Ali has regged over 4,000 names with Fasthost promo.

I mentioned it in this thread in some detail. I acquired around 4,500 or so names with the fasthosts promo. Used a ton of data to create possible permutations, registered some of my favorites from those permutations and listed them on the aftermarket.

It's definitely a numbers game with data driven registrations. I'm officially "in the black" - so all profit from a few sales ago onward.

Not sure what the final numbers will look like at the end of the registration cycle, will be an interesting turnout. I'll likely write about the whole experience once it's all wrapped up.

@Ali Congrats!

Can you share if you have set all of them at mid $xxx level or have created a subset of similar names that are the same quality-wise, but have price tag of mid $1xxx? Would be great to see, let's say in 6 months, if you see difference in sale through %. If sale through is down by 50%, you are probably still better off at higher price, but still wondering about the elasticity.

Might seem straight-forward, but when I lower the prices - the sell through goes up. All names are priced the same, and I adjust every now and then. (mid $xxx - mid $x,xxx).

Thank you for the response. By how much? Does it really double or triple to justify lower take per name?

Quite a bit. 92% of the sales thus far have been $999 and below. Averaging around $570.

Strange. @Federer 's theory is that the sweet spot is in $1k-3K range, if I am not mistaken.

What percentage of 4.5K names have you set at $999 or below?

Everyone will have a different experience. I fluctuate pricing on all names, across the board when I play around.

@Recons.Com for the sake of data and because why not - I've just randomized all the pricing between $499-$4999. I'll give it a couple months and see what happens.

Wow, thanks, man! ) Looking forward to seeing the result ) But, yes, in the long run we all can earn more, if we establish approximate price sensitivity.
